I'm a bit of an old user, I never even noticed the change in name:rolleyes: it has always just downloaded itself, I just unticked the google toolbar offer and off I went, I've never had any problems uninstalling or installing it, strange. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0 -

Download, install and Run MSICuu2.exe. When the icon shows up, run the program. After its done its thing, you will get a list of files. Click on Adobe and it will remove it. Then go back into Adobe and install Reader 8.1.
I haven't tried it myself.0 -
It's a known issue.
You first need to download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft:

Then have a read of this thread which covers the problem in more detail:

Thank you and everyone who has replied to this thread - I have downloaded installer Clean Up and removed Reader 7 and have now successfully downloaded Reader 8. Thank you very much.
One question what is Beyond Acrobat reader page all about and Start a meeting with Acrobat connect tab about?0 -
Having successfully downloaded Reader 8 I found my computer has slowed to taking ages to open files and programs already on computer ie Outlook Express etc., a friend told me some time ago when Reader 8 first came out that there were various bugs in it and even his computers had slowed.
I thought by now they might of fixed the bugs but it seem they have not.
I have now removed Reader 8 and the computer is back to it's normal self.
I am now going to resume using Foxit Reader which seems to be working very well and hopefully Reader 8 will get the bugs fixed.
Has anyone else had this proplem?0 -
Does Acrobat 8 have some feature that you require, which is not available in Foxit? If not, I would stick with Foxit.Charlie0

No both do the same as I am concerned I am quite happy with Foxit, I was just passing on my experiences in case others had the the same proplem.
I have always had Acrobat in the past but now consider Foxit to be just as good.0
