how to amend details on a mini SD Card

I do not seem able to find a file stating SD card.
If you or your mobile device that uses the card have given it a name, it will appear under this name.
You should get a Browse for Folder dialogue box when you click Change Directory in mp3tag.
This will list all the drives installed or connected to your computer. C, D, E etc. The attached drives are usually found at the end of this list.
Disconnect the SD card, obeying any "Safely Remove Hardware" dialogue, and open mp3tag, Change Dir, and make a note of all drives you have on a piece of paper. Close mp3tag.
Connect the SD card, open mp3tag, Change Dir, and note the new drive which (should have) has appeared in the list. This will be the SD card. Navigate within that drive to the music folder.0 -
I put my SD Card in the card reader and the contents appear in some form on F drive . I open MP3 Tag on my PC and then have managed to amend artists, albums and song titles . So far so good. However unfortunately it does not appear in same the format, that comes up on my tablet on the MP3 file. I cannot change the order of the music and some of the artist come up as unknown on my Android tablet despite changing them on my F drive. It is a shame I cannot seem to go the last mile .I also tried the Change directory theory suggested, but failed miserably. It is quite comporting seeing several other OPs on this forum that are having similar difficulties. It is probably a very easy exercise for the "Real Techies" but not so for many of us!!!0

Sorry, you need to explain this further.
WHAT does not "appear in the same format"? Examples, please
What order do you want the music in? Alphabetical? Chronological? By track length?
You have actually put the SD card back in the tablet after changing the attributes of the files, haven't you?0 -
In order to make best use of the excellent advice provided by MSEers on this subforum, it really helps if you already have a basic understanding of Windows, certainly of File Explorer.
This is a very thorough video tutorial (there are quite a few others, too), that goes through the basics of File Explorer, including accessing SD Cards.

As above, I'd also recommend MP3TAG as a tool to manage the built-in tags on MP3 files. There is a video tutorial here for that application:-

Track information on MP3 has historically been stored in two different ways. The file name often contains the Track Name, the Artist Name, and sometimes the Track Number. Some apps use this info, assuming that it is formatted in a way that they understand. Tags are embedded within the MP3 file, and permit a much more detailed set of information to be stored and organised, and for it to be stored in a more formal way.
MP3TAG provides automation that can copy info from Tags to Filenames, and vice versa. It's recommended that both sets of info are consistent in order for the files to make sense to as wide a variety of apps as possible.0 -

Track No. - Track Name
I don't include the artist or album in the filename - I keep all my files stored in folders, named by Artist then Album Name. Example:AC_DC For Those About To Rock 1 - Track 1.mp3 2 - Track 2.mp3 Etc. Black Sabbath Sabotage 1 - Track 1.mp3 2 - Track 2.mp3 Etc.

As mentioned previously I lost all my music on my SD card when I tried to make amendments in MP3Tag so obviously I did something incorrectly and care needs to be taken in case anyone else which have the same issue.0

MP3TAG has a "preview" option which tells you what changes it plans to make.
As with any such activity - make sure you have a backup first.0 -

Er, you said originally you lost it "for no apparent reason" ....

You won't have lost the music files. But if the filenames have been changed then the Music app may not be able to find them and will report errors.
The solution would be to reset the library for that app and let it discover the files again afresh.0
