Struggling to update Dell XPS laptop to Win 10

I have tried at least 6 times to update my Dell XPS laptop to Windows 10, its currently running Windows 8. I have downloaded the Media Creation Tool to an external USB stick and have gone through the motions, towards the end of the process it tells me that there is an issue with a Modem and it won't let me continue, so I have to cancel the process and start all over again. Another observation I have is that it defaulting to Windows 10 Home although I have purchased a Windows 10 Pro key, any ideas as to overcome all this?

I have been trying to do a clean install I thought you had to go via the media creation team which is causing me this problem. Is there another way?0

How far through the clean install have you got? Have you reformatted the harddisk?0

If it's defaults to w10home it sounds like you're doing an upgrade. Which guide are you following? Here's one... https://m.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-installation-windows-10 ft0

Don't you realise that over the years there have been a number of ranges of Dell XPS 15?

Nope been using a Apple laptop prior to this one so I have been out of the Windows world for quite a while.0
