  • Thats sounds about right for the gambling bit, may be a bit high but you did make it sound like there was a fair amount involved so it may be quite reasonable

Thanks baab, yes, it was quite a considerable amount. The OR kindly told him today exactly how much it was

Anyway - it went quite well, all things considered. H said he was polite and professional, just asked the questions and wrote down all the answers. He asked him all about the poker (as expected) and the secured loan we got in 2006 and yes, the loan I got for him was mentioned too. H said he took full responsibility for that, but of course, at the end of the day I'm the one that physically got the loan, not him. I'm looking at a BRU of 2 years for my actions with that loan - apparently, it would have been longer only H is taking most of the 'blame' so to speak.

So....... one down, one to go. Roll on Monday and get it out of the way.

  • Oh Scarlett, how many more ups and downs can there be?? Poor things.
I don't really know anything about BRU/BROs as I haven't looked into it, sounds quite scary tho! Hope everything goes ok for you on Monday.

I wish my OR had been quite as nice as your sounds lol.

    Good Luck.

I do feel a bit better now D :) Less manic and stressed ;) He (the OR) did say to H that this (the interviews) was the last part of his investigations, so hopefully this WILL be the last of it. He said that the London office was V busy at the moment so we probably won't hear anything official about the BRUs until about November. At least I can stop checking the IS website now in the vain hope of ED <rotfl> ;)

Mollybear - thanks. They're not actually that scary, honest. There's more info. on them on Fermi's post about BR at the top of the forum if you're interested :)

At least you won't have to worry all weekend like you did last weekend.

    :j :j

  • Wow and phew...bet you're so pleased OH's is over. So, after Monday you will at least know how long you are BRU for as well.

I think just about everyone here doesn't mind having a BRU - because none of us ever want to touch credit again!

If anything bankruptcy puts into perspective what is really important in life: not a shiny new car, a wide television or the latest DVD player, it is peace of mind, security, friends and family and the simple pleasures in life that cost virtually nothing.

So pleased it will soon all be over for you. I am still not able to pursue my petitio, I just can't wait for it all to be done and dusted and for us to make a fresh start.

    All the best

  • Very true FYP...... I feel better now H's is over and it wasn't too bad at all really :-)

Thank you Dorothy for your kind words. I wish you all the very best too and hope your journey through BR is a smooth one :-)

I have a couple of questions re BRUs and wondering if anyone could answer them. I've searched the IS site and can't find the answers (have also emailed them but not expecting a reply over the weekend now):

    1. Does a BRU extend the time-frame within which an IPA can be issued? I know that in normal bankruptcies an IPA needs to be in place before the bankrupt is discharged and can not be implemented afterwards - is this the same for a bankrupt with a BRU or can an IPA be implemented during the term of the BRU?

    2. Does the term of the BRU extend the time that the bankrupt's status is shown on their credit file? For example - if the BRU was 5 years, then is this 5 years added to the original 6 that the bankruptcy status shows on the credit file? So, would it be: 1 year for the term of the bankruptcy + 5 years (to total 6) then + the 5 year BRU term?

Thanks to anyone who can answer :-)

  • Hi

As I will almost certainly be awarded a jolly decent BRU i phoned the insolvency people to ask exactly those questions.

No - you are still discharged at the normal time, so credit wise it's still the same.

and No again, the IPA still has to be put in place prior to discharge.
