Ha! It took all of 90 minutes of our eight year-old's school holidays (they'd broken up after a morning of eating chocolate and singing hymns) before he managed to get stuck in the washing machine. Scarlett, very happy to see you again.
Lily
Sorry but :rotfl: :rotfl:
You must have a huge washing machine  or a small 8 year old? I'm sure my 7 year old wouldn't FIT in our washing machine....... hmmmm, I may pop him in it, just to check, purely for research purposesYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

No, no. Both are standard-sized. He went in bottom-first, then wriggled until arms and shoulders were in too, at which point he realised he was in trouble and shouted for help! I don't think he'll be trying this again. Ironic, considering our generation was scarred for life by those ROSPA public information films about the dangers of climbing into fridge-freezers.0

Hi Scarlett, glad it is going ok, just one quick question, we went BR last year and have moved out of our house, told the mortgage company what our intentions are and they keep sending the surrender forms, which we are not signing, we also have a court date in a few weeks, I am going to ring the court tomorrow to check that we do not have to attend, but what did you do with your old house keys??0

I love the school holidays too! Sadly this is the first year we are not having them. My daughter just finished her GCSE's and so she'll be going to college and working and my son finished his AS levels and not sure what his plans are until he gets his results next Thursday.

We finally have a date for the reposession  Received a letter last week telling that the court had granted posession back to Northern Rock and this would take effect on the 9th September at 10.30am (how very precise!). Can't quite believe it has taken almost a year from start to finish
pistonbroke - I asked NR if they would like the keys back and they said no, there's no point - they'll send a locksmith on the day of posession and they will change the locks there and then to gain entry
scjs2008 - thank you, I'm glad reading this has proved helpful to you
<wispers> shhhhh, don't tell the kids but I'm actually enjoying the holidays tooIt's nice to not have to rush in the mornings...... the kids have been playing outside a lot (we bought them a trampoline, which has been a HUGE success!), we've been baking and doing all sorts of nice things and we're going to Drayton Manor next Saturday (with some BOGOF tickets, very MSE

Scarlett - WOW!!! I have just read through this thread and wow!!!
I think you are a fantastic, brave woman and wish you and your family the best for the future as you guys definitely deserve it!
I don’t know if I am ready to go down the BR road just yet although if that’s what I have to do then I know there is nothing to be scared of (well, there are a couple of things to be scared of such as having account frozen and picture in paper!!)0 -

Thanks newcook
With a bit of careful planning dates-wise you don't have to worry about your bank account being frozen or even if you have to open a new one, honestlyAnd re the bit in the paper - well, as far as I know, it was only ME that noticed it, no-one said anything to me. I did tell a couple of close friends though, so they could see my 'moment of glory'

Hi Scarlett,
I have been sat here at my desk pretending to work for the last 2 hrs reading this thread and its 2 hrs well spent!! You are an inspiration you really are. The way you have kept your personality throughout it all, I feel like a bit of me fades away every day, I dont know how you have done it. I am so pleased it worked out for you, and I am so grateful for the accounts you wrote about your experiences with the OR as this keeps me awake every night. I was advised to go BK by the CCCS a while ago and I have only just started to except it. I think I am also going to be leaving my mortgaged property to go into renting. I was unsure which way round to do everything but you have really cleared this up for me. Can I ask a question and that is - when you left the courts you went to the coop to open up your bank account, and I know they opened up the account quickly, but did you just set spare cash aside to get by with until then and what did the OR say about the amount you had?? Thanks, and a massive thank you and hug for you and your family. Louise xx0 -

Hi Louise
I know this sounds horribly corny, but knowing what you need to do and accepting it are 2 very different things and once you CAN accept it and know that you're doing the right thing, it all becomes a lot easier, I promise
We timed our BR date for just after all our payments had gone into our old accounts (my wages, child ben. tax credits etc...). We cleared those accounts completely on the days leading up to BR and used that money for our essential living expenses (food, bill paying at the post office for 1 month, etc....) the OR never asked about this at all, not a word. On the advice I received from here I put on our forms under the "cash in hand" question: £0.00 because we needed that money to live on and pay our bills, simple as that
Thank you for your kind wordsTrust me, I've had my moments where my cheerfulness has slipped slightly but mostly I've tried to be positive and keep smiling - I know it's easy for me to say but it's really NOT that awful, the process of BR, it's the unknown that's the hardest part, not knowing exactly what will happen and how you will be dealt with by your OR. But I promise you this - it won't be anywhere near as bad as you think it will be
