Topsy and Candy, I went to 6th form college in Leyland - lived in Charnock Richard. In fact mum was born in a farmhouse there and moved next door when she married - so she lived there all of her 80 odd years.

Steve's temp is normal again and his throat less sore so I'm hoping yesterday was a blip. It's his birthday today so I am pleased he's a bit better. We won't be going anywhere though and will see all the family on Sunday.

As well as scrubbing the kitchen floor yesterday I also gave the cupboard fronts a good clean - they didn't look too bad until I got up close. I also vacuumed out the drawers that somehow get full of crumbs and other bits. I need to clean the oven but I must admit paying someone to do it sounds quite tempting.

Just to say there is often an oven clean on Groupon or wowcher for £30.

I used them and was very pleased with the results. However they do phone every 6 months to ask if you would like a further visit.... but at the same price.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
The weather here was lashing down when I got up but things seem a bit calmer now. I didn't get much sleep but I have flu I think as I keep spiking a temperature and then get shivery and sweaty, all my joints are aching and I feel sick....what a picture of health :).

I was supposed to get my hair cut today but I am going to stay out of the way when she comes as she is pregnant with twins and the last thing I want to do is cause her to be ill. Phoebe and Lee will still get theirs cut though so it will not be a wasted journey.

Steve was supposed to get his cataract surgery today but the hospital rang yesterday and postponed it so he is more than a bit fed up. He decided to take today off anyway to look after me :).

I am going back to bed now as even typing this has exhausted me :o. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Its dull and wet here, we did have a pleasant afternoon yesterday, sunny but still quite windy.

Re oven cleaning, I had mine done some years ago, it came up like a new oven, got me a few more pounds when I sold it.

Camelot...... you naughty girl to even thing of shedding your vest, and no liberty bodice.....how decadent!! I hate those damn things especially the suspenders, we had to wear black stockings in the winter........ I have to confess my vests were hand knitted and itchy........

Blitz the kitchen this morning, the floor needs steaming, so OH will do that, will gird my loins about 10am and get it done. I really am missing the cleaner, but nothing on the horizon as yet.

I had a call from the blue badge people yesterday, they wanted proof of who we are and where we live......there was a bit on the form which said if you provided certain info you did not have to do this....apparently the checking system is not working, so I scanned our council tax form and marriage licence and emailed them. Hopefully we will hear from them shortly.

Fish and chips tonight, I will just have one or two chips........suppose I could have salad with it..........no idea what to do for dessert. I do have a fruit loaf in the fridge suppose I could do a small bread and butter pudding.

Morning all! Painkillers a go-go this morning, will send OH out for more after.
Have arranged a quid pro quo with one of OHs friends, I will put a new zip in his favourite coat, he will repair my phone screen, the zip will be here next week so pleanty of time to unpick the old one which is missing an impressive number of teeth....I have no idea ho he managed to use it before. Will have to get the BSA out, it's the only one strong enough to get through the layers. Will also have to take it for a service, the tension rings have gone but it doesn't really seem to have made much difference, it still sews properly.

I modified an old sewing table to fit it, it's a realy old fashioned one, about 1920's with the row of drawers behind a door and another door for the ex-flywheel to the side. I added some castors when I fetched it from a lovely old gentleman in London who said it had been his mothers, and all of the old bobbins and machine attachments were still in there, in the bottom drawer on a pull out velvet type liner.
Anyway...will check out webuybooks after, I have a few I don't need and some textbooks if I can get to them, that's my nod to the friday tidy craze that's sweeping the nation....
Had the macaroni cheese with some green beans in oil and vinegar [kept the fajita stuff for OH, he really likes it], really nice, my sister put some bacon bits in it too, so kept finding little prizes during munching it.there's a little bit of both left, so that's lunch or breakfast, or brunch...

dumpling, did you manage to get to the hospital yesterday? and take care of yourself . TA, what a complete cow. Nelski, look at you, liver for breakfast..you definitely have good blood :) your es-friend sounds a right she-dog though, glad you got rid..camelot, I think you've seriously offended a lot of people with your flippant attitude to health and safety, I think you should be suitably contrite and sew yourself into the vest for the next three months, with added goose grease as penance. Boz, enjoy your natter. snoozer, sounds like you did the never ending clean, where you see one thing and do it, then you notice another thing and do it, then one more ad inifinitum...this is when you end up gtting a cotton bud out to clean the bit where the cooker lip joins the bit with the knobs on and your hands are red and scaly by the time you finish...hope you've got gloves and a good hand cream! Holly, did you get sucked into the wardrobe tidy and end up in Narnia? Wotcha Poppy, tru. And to all the tidiers, how about we scrap Brighton and you come here and clean? No? Well...it was a thought....:)

Have a good weekend harbinger if you can...

-taff, my hands are already suffering from constant washing to try to make sure I don't infect Steve with anything. I have to keep slathering them in cream.

    Morning everyone.

It's a bit stormy in Glasgow though I see that my place is right underneath Storm Erik. I'm still in pjs, wandering around the house doing little bits of this and that. DM is still fast asleep, I took in a cup of tea for her half an hour ago, it's probably cold by now.

The main plan for today is taking DM back to the hospital for a CT scan in the early afternoon. That's about it!

Last night I made a definite decision to completely stop working in July when my SP kicks in. Whilst it would have been good to carry on a bit longer, to keep my money bags stocked up, I am missing time for myself. Trying to fit in my very few working hours with DM and doing things I want to is just too difficult and stressful. That and the travelling. So...the decision is made. :j it'll be strange as I've worked every day since my first Saturday job aged 16 years.

Perhaps I'd better get washed and dressed now. :rotfl:

Happy Friday to everyone and virtual hugs to those struggling.
