O/S Daily Friday 8th February 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black here, damp underfoot, wind had died off, but has become breezy again during the night, still reasonably mild though.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was hunters chicken, vegetable rice and vegetable pasta - was delicious, all plates cleared. Tonight will be an easy meal - not sure what yet, possibly something and chips.

Yesterday I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, training went on longer than anticipated, but I did get the oven cleaned, although it's still not great but I'm thinking I'll get a professional company in to do it - as I can't get it any better than it is, and it's still not great, hoping it'll be worth the money. I did crack on with the washing and drying too, so will continue with that. Ironing needs doing too as I need work uniform for tomorrow.

First thing this morning we'll be going to do the food shopping, then DS2 will go straight to the gym from the SM and I'll come home unpack the shopping, then I'm wanting to go and find a butchers/farm shop that is in one of the villages that has been set up and run after a very well established butcher closed down after trading for over 100 years. Needing some inspiration and something different to try, feel like we're in a food rut.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Re oven cleaning, my SIL had hers done and she was really impressed by the result. She said it just looked like a new oven. I think she paid about £60.

Rubbish night again. Bah. Just very occasionally I have a better night so there is hope I suppose,

3 DGDs still asleep and will be to rouse up shortly. Then boring day ahead with a much needed Friday Tidy to be done. Also need to strip the girls' beds and get their bed linen washed. Such excitement, I can't contain myself.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

    Morning All

It's very wet and windy outside, the rain is battering the windows. Feel I could just go back to bed!

Last day before half term, we're off Monday and Tuesday with an in service on Wednesday, really looking forward to a few days rest. I really should go and visit the relatives down south but I have a sore hip/back ad don't think I could sit in the car that long!

The heating at work seems to be fixed - it reached 24 degrees yesterday, we were all melted, thought I was going to have to take my vest off!

Hugs to all those in need, take care. XX

thought I was going to have to take my vest off!

I don't think is appropriate to take your vest off until the end of may young lady !! :D

    Morning all

Very windy and rainy here too think its set in for the day, off to work today and the Friday group are hard hard work, its always a very stressful day ! Going to make fish pie and love heart shaped biscuits today.

Breaded chicken for dinner with mash and veg and wine in the fridge.

Cleaner back today so all will be clean and tidy as well. Will just have to do some washing tonight.

Snoozer I hope Steve is feeling a little better today.

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all, I've been messing about for a few hours after a not very great night.

Still dark here, quite windy at present.

My boring I mean needful plan for today is the Friday Tidy and like TA, I can hardly contain my excitement. Other than that, the trauma teddies, which have evolved into pandas dressed in a toy panda version of police uniform.

I'm quite tired now, after a few poor nights so today may be interrupted by a nap.

Thinking of all those who need some extra support.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning all :)

Bit of a lazy lay around this morning couldn't motivate myself out a warm bed finally got bored with looping news so here I am.

I will be heading to Brighton as planned as I really want to visit in the summer but meet wise it does make sense to move more centrally so maybe the midlands or even Blackpool ...we do have a good OS history there :)

Hoping Lainey's Lu and mehefin's mares are all free of the dreaded equine flu sounds nasty.

Have to concur with ruby camelot....vests are required wearing till spring as are good solid knickers that can go under your arms so that you can tuck your vest in. (and then I wonder why I am single :D )

TA how dare she. One thing I have learned sadly is they are not all angels. I had what I thought was a good friend who was a senior nurse. What a nasty piece of work she turned out to be when I needed a friend she ran a mile and stuck a knife in too. I always remember she would do anything to get out of working the hours all her fellow nurses had to do and somehow rarely worked a full day. I know most nurses are good at their jobs but the rogue ones like my ex friend ruin it for others

Good work day yesterday I actually cracked through all the invoicing though it did take a long while note to self please stop procrastinating and do it on the day after the work not 3 weeks down the line :o so today I can join the giddy kippers on a Friday Tidy. Please go easy though too much excitement can be addictive. I am working with my US group tonight which I enjoy when I do but hate the thought of it.

Liver bacon and mash was great last night (just the normal one this time -taff) still a bit left but not much so will crack that off for breakfast or lunch then tonight it will probs be sandwiches.

Right have a good day all and to the cleaning crew please monitor your heart rate closely :)
  • Good morning, it's wet and windy here, as forecast.

Now look Camelot, calm down a bit will you, taking your vest off - I'm shocked and horrified!!

My niece is staying tonight, as she's working in the area today, so the family will be piling over for tea to see her. Don't think they've met up for over a year. I'm wondering whether to try a fish and chip shop nearby that's got a new owner, but looking at reviews last night, I don't know, I know that reviews are not always reliable, but I'm dithering.

Just a bit of tidying to do, and the sofa bed to turn into a bed in the spare room, and that's it really. I went to Sains yesterday for a change, got a bit of shopping, and looked at the clothes, (didn't buy any clothes, but was seriously tempted)

Snoozer, I'm so sorry that Steve is poorly again, I hope he improves today.

Thinking of others who aren't well, or struggling with life.

Take care folks, and don't get blown away in this wind.
  • CAMELOT now listen here young lady! The saying in these parts is "Ne'er cast a clout till May is out". And why is there is no mention of your liberty bodice, surely that hasn't been cast already! (OMG how I hated wearing those when I was a child!)

  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

We have baby weather here, wet and windy, plans today include collecting a prescription and getting it filled, always takes at least an hour due to inefficiencies,, then shopping and then I'm dropping CHS off with a friend for a natter.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Thanks Nelski for thinking of Lu, apparently there are two vaccinations that protect against this strain of equine flu and one of them is the brand that my vets use. My yard has also put measures in place to step up hygiene etc.
