I might phone them tomorrow and see what would happen. What would I say on the phone ?

Say what you said in your opening post.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • When I got sick notes a while back I always made an appointment each time I got one for the day it ran out or day after so I knew I had one booked in, that way it could be sorted.

You can remain on JSA for 13 weeks only on extended sick.
  • Has anyone phoned and asked for a fit note and just had to go and collect it ? What did you say on the phone ? The thought of having to go to the doctors is making my anxiety worse

I dont really know how anxiety works but id work on the basis that you need the fit note for your income. No income would make me considerably more anxious than going to a doctor to collect a fit note.

Youre going to the doctors to make you less anxious not more.
  • Its social anxiety that I have, so for me going out and speaking to someone sends me into pure panic, even being around people makes me panic. I know going to the doctors is the best option but doing it is another thing entirely

Just say that you want to request a repeat sickline, you saw the doctor on whatever date, and ask when you can pick it up? This is what I’ve done every time.

I can sympathise on the anxiety front, it’s not easy, but just stick to the script and you should be fine.

Thanks - I never knew you could get a 'repeat sick note' without seeing the doctor.

We can't answer that. It's down to your GP and your individual circumstances.
If you're worried about what to say, write it down to remind you. If all else fails you can show them the note.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I've asked for them before over the phone for a continued sickness. They were fine with it.

Ultimately its down to the doctor though, they may be happy to issue you with one without seeing you or they might ask you to attend an appointment.

I sympathise with the anxiety as that's what I suffered with a while ago before I under went treatment, and I always got them by having to see the doctor but there is no harm in asking.

In my opinion its better to see the doctor so you can explain how things are going and the doctor can decide if any more intervention is needed.
