Hi I got a fit note from my doctor just over 3 weeks ago from my doctor due to my anxiety so its due to run out next thursday. I was just wondering when I would have to phone for a new one. Its the first time ive had to do this so im not really sure how it works.
Also im on js so I don't know how long I would have to hand it in.
If I phoned tommorow would they be able to start it from the 14th or would it have to be tomorrows date ? Thanks for any help

Can they do that though ? I was reading somewhere that they can only date it from the date it was given rather than when the other one ended0

This is the case where I am.
They will usually backdate it if you’ve been in contact with them and it’s the same ongoing condition but they absolutely will not say you’re sick from 16th February 2019 for 4 weeks because they can’t predict the future.
Might be worth checking if you can get one with a longer duration though if you find it’s interrupting payments.0 -
When I was getting my sick notes they would be dated from the last one for 4 weeks as the doctor knew my anxiety and depression was preventing me from working and only made my illness worse, maybe see your local cab for advice in your areaTasha

Will the doctor not want to see you again anyway to see how things are going? You might want to check that in case it's difficult to get an appointment. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
So if I phone tomorrow and ask for another one it should be dated from the 14th ? Also do you know how long roughly from phoning for the sicknote it takes to get it ? Thanks again for ur help0

Im not sure, on the fit note it says she wont need to assess me again.0

Different GPS will have different approaches, there is no standard answer. Just contact your GP and see what happens.
Note - you are unlikely to be allowed to remain on JSA, if that is what you are claiming, if you are going to remain unfit for work.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

It would be dated the 8th presumably.
My surgery is the next working day to pick it up. I assume it differs from surgery to surgery.0 -
I might phone them tomorrow and see what would happen. What would I say on the phone ?0
