Aldi Parking Eye - Successful Appeal with apology from Aldi...

Bit of a step up from Aldi.
Haha, my main grocery shop is always Ocado, my top up for everyday, routine things like veg was Aldi. But Ocado is still very affordable on many things. And the service is fab. The sad thing is I was actually slowly transitioning more and more to Aldi, but I’ll try Lidl for my ‘why spend more when you don’t need to’ items. These budget supermarkets have a good customer offer for sure. Despite the parking issues, there’s nothing wrong with Aldi’s quality but this has really put me off.
Anyway we digress - back to helping people with their unfair parking charges please : ))0 -
LIDL .... same scam just a different parking cowboy0

In order be transparent, I just need to let all participants and readers of this thread know that i’ve updated the introduction to this thread today. I’m learning a lot as I go along, including terminology such as ‘double dipping’, as well as how I can better position this so others in the same boat can find it easily. Hence I thought a bit of a refresh necessary, without changing any facts of course:
"It seems that the number plate recognition systems (ANPR) in many Aldi store (and other) car parks managed by Parking Eye (and other companies) are failing to provide accurate evidence of parking infractions. And this is resulting in customers using the same store to shop more than once in a 24 hour period receiving unfair, unwarranted parking fines. Either it’s a technical issue or Parking Eye and other firms are hoping people will not be able to prove they are innocent and therefore i have to assume it’s a scam.
Apparently it’s called Double Dipping. And this thread shows how you can successfully appeal, report the private parking companies, the DVLA, and the landowner for GDPR breaches, and perhaps even claim for your time and inconvenience."
Double Dipping’s been covered in the National press and by BBC’s Watchdog in the past. It happens all the time, so why the private parking companies haven’t fixed it and the DVLA haven’t addressed it is open to debate...
First tip that may help: FIND YOUR SHOPPING RECEIPTS OR ASK THE STORE YOU WERE VISITING FOR COPIES - yes apparently if you paid cash you can do this, read the thread... - or get a copy of the transactions from your bank or CC company
I really hope this post helps others. And the more each person who gets one of these unfair parking penalty demands does what I did, the more time and money we’ll cost those organisations who still fail to fix the issue at our expense and inconvenience. But I do have to point out that this thread is not for anyone trying to challenge a parking charge if they’ve overstayed or haven't complied with the parking terms. If that’s happened this isn’t necessarily the thread for you.0 -

This forum attempts to help anyone who falls into the scam trap
Overstaying can be for many reasons such as unclear signage and falling asleep in motorways service etc.
Complying with parking signs all depends on how clear the signs are and as you will know by now, many are not.
Whatever the situation, new people must NOT be put off posting their problem. As you will have also seen, members of the forum will quickly tell a person if they were in the wrong but still continue to assist. With every respect, you are new here and have not seen the half of what goes on.
Plus, you are aware that a thread like this will vanish into the abyss within hours.
Your experience with Aldi is just the tip of the iceberg0 -

I agree with you, this Forum is to help all with a number of experiences, however this particular thread is for a particular circumstance, and as the author and poster, I'm responsible for it and its positioning0 -

Of course this thread is your responsibility and you can post comments so it upgrades.
There are many many Aldi threads to which this forum has helped to get most cancelled via the Aldi CEO.
Your intentions regarding data and the DVLA will be interesting and to that end, we look forward to your progress0 -

The DVLA and PE have the usual 30 day time period (from end of last week) to respond to the initial GDPR breach notifications, unless they request more time. But I will update as they respond. Thanks for your support.0 -

We wish you luck. KeithP in post#25 has shown you the type of reply you will get from the DVLA .... for the time being it's not going to change0
