This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning

Really blustery here this morning glad i'm not going far today.

Not a bad mother day in the scheme of things although she wasn't happy about me being half an hour late despite me calling her 3 times to update her. I did get an interesting win when I suggested that we have a change and eat in the morrisons cafe rather than go up to the pub. Thought she would have a full tantrum but no or at least not until she found out she couldn't have a wine when we got a slight toy chucking moment :D Doubt I'll get away with that again but it was nice for a change. Mum had a hot salmon pasta with garlic bread and I had a brekky. All great value for £11

She did tell me that her front door has been a problem for a while so she has stopped locking it when she goes out  say what!!!!! Its fine to lock inside it seems but not outside...fortunately she very rarely goes out anyway but it seems she had been doing this for months when we went out....I despair. Anyway I have a man who has sorted windows and doors out for me over the years so I am asking him to go and get a new door\lock fitted asap hopefully this week as I know she goes to get a paper on a Saturday and I will now be panicking about the open door. My dad will be literally rolling round in his grave as he was a prison officer and locksmith by trade. Their house was like fort knox...now she just leaves it open :(

Anyway work day but from home today. Lots of invoicing to do and some planning for the next month. Car was ok but does need some new windscreen wipers which I can sort tomorrow. MOT next week so hopefully this will mean it passes.

Food wise I think I am thinking liver and bacon with mash for dinner ...its been far too long -Taff :D

Great to see peeps wanting to do the Brighton meet although it would be great if candy can come and nanny of course lets see how it pans out eh it will certainly be MSE driven. Nan and SO maybe we talk the folks with us and leave them in a seaside home :D

Right going to make an early start then I can cry off early :) Have a great day all :A

    Morning All

    Thanks for the start Nelski.

It's very calm outside, almost eerie! Hoping for a nice day, I enjoy seeing the sunshine.

My massage last night was glorious, the hot stones were certainly hot but very welcome. I had the best sleep I've had for a long time too. Also had my eyebrows waxed so looking a little more presentable.

I'm going swimming this morning before work then expecting a busy day again. Planning on catching up with some TV tonight and doing a couple of loads of washing - where on earth does it come from?

Have a good day, take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. A damp and dismal day in store for us by the sound of it but still quite mild.

I left a beef casserole in the sc overnight and oh it did smell nice when I was coming down the stairs this morning. I shall freeze in portions for a quick hot meal when I need one.

As usual had a lovely day out yesterday with my buddies. Browsing the market stalls and cs. We were all quite restrained with our spending. Of course lunch was involved and, boring as we are, we all had the same as last time, lasagne, chips and salad, as we had all enjoyed it so much. Accompanied by a bottle of wine of course.

Today is Aldi day and DS is picking me up this morning. I had better get on with my list though not a lot needed.

The DGDs are still asleep but need to be up by 7.00. DD's lovely chappie is coming over to take them to school. They are back again tonight and, being Thursday, it is Bolognese Pasta Bake day! I wish they would tire of it but they never do and I would have a riot on my hands if I made them something different. The mince has defrosted o/n so will get the bolognese cooking shortly.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the sad, poorly, worried or lonely as always. TAFF and HOLLY don't drive yourselves too hard. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black here, very breezy but quite mild.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms and chips - not sure what we'll be having tonight as I didn't get anything out of the freezer, so need to sort that later.

Now on days' off, but have work training this morning, so will head to town first thing, do what's needed then go to the training. Once that's done the rest of the day is my own. I still have a large "to do" list. I had a near disaster with the oven last night, it desperately needs a clean and so that's on today's list, it really needs a professional clean but can't bring myself to part with that kind of money at the moment, although I could justify it, due to not having to pay council tax this month and next. I'll look into it and see whether it's possible.

Yesterday work was either dead or manic again, but that seems to be the way of things at present. I'm working Saturday morning, it'll either be manic or dead.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all, not quite such a good night but still a reasonable amount of sleep. I was woken by the wind, it really is blowing strongly here. I need to go out but perhaps the wind might have died down a little by tge time I leave.

Yesterday I was whinging on here about the mess goblins - last night senior mess goblin seemed to snap and cleared away the mess belonging to mess goblin 2. I think he was struggling to find anywhere to sit and relax.

I'm afraid that Brighton is a bit far for me this year, well it is not the distance but the cost really so I'll be with you in spirit.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. And Happy Birthday JackieO!

Good morning all, it's raining here with a forecast of high winds.

We had a quier day yesterday with DGs, he really is a little sweetheart. I met his Mum at 3pm at school to return him, then went to Wi*kinsons for a few things.

Today I'm accompanying a nervous friend to the dentist, and I'll pick up a duvet I've reserved at Argos. It's a kingsize but only a 4.5 tog, so I 'll manage it easily.

Camelot, your massage and hot stones sounded divine!!

Thinking of the sad and poorly people

    Take care folks

Popping back to say Happy Birthday!! Jackie O - have a nice day

    Morning all.

Think it's going to be a very wet and windy day in Glasgow with tomorrow forecast to be much worse.

This morning I'll be helping DM's cleaner move her bed to clean under it. The new mattress is being delivered on Tuesday morning and DM is anxious about the dust. It's a very heavy wooden frame and has the electric parts to move the ends up and down. Later on DM has two appointments at the hospital.

Last night DM had reheated fish and chips (yeugh) and I had some soup with pork in it. I had bought DM some T hornton's chocolates yesterday, once she found them she ate two! Such restraint. :rotfl:

I hope everyone is doing well and wish you all a happy Thursday.

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Nelski

    OL that's so sad

Not sure what we are doing today, very little I hope.

    Take care all
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread Nelski and hugs to all those in need. Happy birthday Jackie.

We had DGD for the day yesterday, she'd been sick and couldn't go to nursery for 48 hours so spent the day on the boat with us, she met Marley the Dalmatian and Zoe the German Shepherd, so got thoroughly licked!

Today I'm helping the other DD but just for an hour or so, I'll get the chap next door to keep an eye on CHS whilst I'm out, they have coffee together most days so it won't be a chore for him, he's ok on the boat, it's just if he decides to run along the gunwales with his slippers or something silly as he forgets he's not a teenager any more.

DD2 has taken over the battle with the tenant so that's one less thing to worry about.

    Have good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
