Almost everything chromebook is cloud based and not loaded on the machine so needs the internet to use most functions but you would be connected to be comping anyway
There is a Which article here

it is like a minefield lol. There are some budget chromebooks that look tempting but guessing they're not going to run great. I will update this with what I decide and how I am getting on. It's my birthday tomorrow so what better time to treat myselfThanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I use hp laptop. I slouch on the sofa though so a desktop would probably be better for my back and ergonomic keyboard would be kinder on hands! I do use a mouse though as I get sore hands very quick if I use the touchpad. My daughter has chromebook and they are very good - amazing how quick they start.0

When my laptop died a couple of years ago I was devastated, I went shopping for a new one but were all way out of my budget, all the chromebooks i'd seen had tiny screens which put me off, but the price swayed me and I found the biggest screen one they had (15 inch) for half the price of the laptop.
Now to put ALL my bookmarks back on, I never new as I already used chrome on my laptop all I had to do was log in on the chromebook and they were all there. I've never looked back and recommend it to everyone.
Mine is an Acer Chromebook 15 it's 18 months old and can comfortably handle 40-50 tabs at a time0 -
I prefer a monitor (current 22") so have more room to play and can zoom text.
Have recently upgraded to a desktop with 8gb ram and i5 chip.
Noticeable difference over i3 where laptop groaned with tasks.
(i.e. file explorer opens instantly now, where would take ages before, whilst surfing etc.)
Don't know about Chromebooks but Netbooks (Atom) can be slow!!0 -
Acer Aspire Laptop 14inch screen wireless mouse
It has SSD which makes it quick
Laptop sits on padded tray on my lap.
I would never go back to a PC.
Sadly, I take this on holidays I have won and comp on holiday.
To my mind, real compers use laptops or PC,
Tablets are just not for me for comping
( I enter a lot, win a lot)
No doubt others will disagree with me!Your genetics load the gun.
Your lifestyle pulls the trigger0 -
I have a 4 year old dell inspiron 17 7000 - still super speedy, massive 17" touch screen and can handle loads of open tabs. I still prefer doing twitter and facebook comps on the ipad, but for general comps my laptop is fab - I also have a rollerball mouse connected when I use it (arm of the sofa) as I hate touchpads!£2021 in 2021... £253.86/£20210

i am going to try a HP 14 chromebook. My desktop is really fast so I will still use that but chromebook will hopefully mean i'm not sat at my unsociable desk for so many hours
this will make my dog extremely happy haha
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I have just bought an acer touchscreen chromebook. Pretty cheap, small and light. Nice clear screen. I use with a mouse as i'm not mad about scroll pads. Seems fairly quick. I always use at a table. Much prefer to ipad. My only complaint is that it hasn't won me any prizes! And with Martin suggesting comping as a way to make a bit extra it probably won't!0

My little dog sits on top of my armchair when I'm netting
