You forgot about the reminder that they've been the cheapest supplier for x months!! Yes I did only leave them days ago but I emailed them asking for a final bill and advising them not to attempt to take any more monies out of my account I've kept the ddebit active only to allow the return of my credit. I know exactly how much I am in credit.

So do I take it that you didn't take up the option as I did at the beginning of the month, and got a full and immediate refund (from my bank) of the OTT payment they took?

If you had done that, you would be owing them money.
    - and they seem to be willing to accept payment by bank transfer currently due to their mammoth screw-up over billing.

Hey ho. As if by magic I just received an email apologising for the delay in replying and assuring me my final reconciled bill would be produced in the first week of January!!! I assume they mean February lol

Evidence once again that symbio do read this thread. They have previously told me that they follow it but will not comment on it

I received an email late today wanting my meter read and advising from 30 to 2 Feb. However I gave them a meter read on the 30 December 2019 last time and look at the problems that caused by producing an inflated bill.

I will give them a reading on the 31 and 1 Feb as well as see what happens then.

No end of the month meter read reminder email yet. Has anyone received one yet?
I have always received a reminder. This month's arrived at 16:21 today. There's a strange paragraph which seems to have been hastily cobbled together:
In keeping with our promise to bring you the lowest available electricity tariff and annual energy bill in accordance with your stated consumption, we would be grateful if you could kindly provide us with meter reading. The UK energy market works on estimated profiling and this is normally accurate, but energy consumption behaviours have changed due to environmental awareness. Regular meter reads allow us to obtain more accurate data about your particular property and the change in the wider UK population.
Never have I looked forward with such excitement to the receipt of an electricity bill. Will I keep the 255 free units I seem to have picked up on the revised January bill? What will my February estimate be?

My request for a reading popped up 2 minutes ago. Same strange wording.
They'll get a reading on 1st and I'll look forward to the bill with keen anticipation.

Multiple readings confuses them, why not just give them one?

I shall give mine on 2 Feb and wait with baited breath to see if the free units randomiser is still part of their billing system. It does make the tedium of buying energy almost exciting!

Everything from them seems hastily cobbled together. The paragraph you quote has lots of words but says absolutely nothing! I wonder if their reference to the wider UK population is a reference to obesity!!

I received an email late today wanting my meter read ...

    Same here.

    The timing is interesting.

    Email sent : 16.20h (ETC)
Perhaps after reading the reminder by Swipe above?

    Email received: 19.02h (ETC)

I suppose that is what happens when you use a French emailing list manager company, whose engineering and design teams are also based in India. sendinblue.com

    Also from the email:
The UK energy market works on estimated profiling and this is normally accurate, but...
it's obviously a big 'but' where Symbio Energy are concerned

    Got my reminder at 11pm

I mean... Ofgem are putting the medium EAC down from 3,100 to 2,900... maximum change of about 17kWh a month. They've only been doing domestic for 7 months so nothing would have drastically changed in that time.

    Just more excuses...

So my meter readings are in, and I'm sure they will be verified in due course:

Here are my variances from expected usages for January 2020
(EAC/12 if you like, but accurately calculated to allow for number of billing days in the month. My figures are based on 365 days in year, despite this year being a leap year. That'll probably be the excuse why Symbio will vastly overestimate February's anticipated usage)
All figures based on consumption in kWh, rather than cost (so ignores effect of standing charge)

Symbio initial estimate: 86% more than anticipated average

Symbio revised estimate: 25% more than anticipated average

Actual usage: 5% less than anticipated average

Anyone else care to share their figures?
