Spent all morning trying to place a click and collect order.    The website wouldn’t accept my debit card then wouldn’t cancel the order.     Fifteen minutes on hold to customer services to hopefully get it cancelled.     My last week’s order had a £2.69 bottle of conditioner missing so had to go into store to collect which defeats the whole objective.

I’ve given up and ordered from Iceland again
This thread is about Lidl & Aldi :D

Yes, I tried click and collect from Aldi.   This is the third order from there and the third time there has been a problem.
It would have been better if you had said that in your post.
Why? It was a post about Aldi in an Aldi/Lidl thread, and that was perfectly obvious.
Not obvious at all, Aldi was not mentioned in the post anywhere and not everyone reads every post and remembers who posted what and when
I could argue my point further but I will just go to the shop instead as it is safer than staying here to catch something.
I find it incredible that one or two people have chosen to round on a poster who posted about an Aldi experience in this thread. Why on earth would anyone think the post wasn’t about Aldi, even without referring to previous posts?

Such intolerance! And how unhelpful and discouraging to new posters.
Of course you rounding on those people is perfectly acceptable!
We must disagree. This was a pointless and unwarranted criticism by just two people who misunderstood a perfectly clear post about Aldi, mistakenly thinking it wasn’t relevant to the thread. There was no reason whatever to think that, and since Lidl don’t do Click and Collect, it was patently obvious that the post was about Aldi.

Even if it hadn’t been, before wading in to criticise another poster, just 30 seconds looking at recent posts would have shown both of you your error.

If you choose to try to defend your errors, and your behaviour towards someone who quite correctly criticised Aldi (is that perhaps your problem?), that’s your choice. I’ll leave you to it.  But that’s not what these forums are all about, and it’s unhelpful to new posters looking to contribute to the thread if they’re treated that way. You don’t own the thread.

As you haven't left as you said you would, perhaps you could show us all the rule that says you MUST include the word Aldi or Lidl in the text of your post in this thread, the thread which is about Aldi and Lidl?

Anybody got any good or bad buys from Aldi or Lidl to report?
I'm off for my weekly shop at Aldi tomorrow and am writing my shopping list.

Hoping the mangoes are still on offer.
  • Lidl and their "Taste of China" Sweet & Sour sauce in  500g glass jar:
This used to be IMHO one of the nicest sweet and sour sauces out there but this recent batch has seen the recipe changed making it inedible (for me & mine) which means that I will instead be using Aldi's sauce from now on.
It has far too much white pepper in it so those that like very peppery sauces might like it, but it also had lumps of celery in there now with the carrot. I don't mind celery but it doesn't belong in sweet and sour sauce and neither do carrots really but I suppose that's why it is so cheap.

Just to say that the honeydew melons have gone up form 79p to £1.29. I don't expect to pay totally-tropical prices year round but 50p in a week?!

Eta: I refer to Lidl but Aldi the prices usually align.

No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Porridge seems to be in short supply in Lidl at the moment, the manager does not know when the next delivery will be.

Thanks for that. Porridge oats were one of the things that was hard to track down in the first lockdown. I was horrified at how much more (than the 75p per kg I'm used to paying in Aldi) other supermarkets charge for the same product. They are currently £1.10 in Sainsbury's. I'll take a look in Aldi this week and see if they have any.

    How much????

    I'm OK for porridge.
I have one bag decanted into individual portions, I'm halfway through that plus a spare bag.

Same here. Since being caught out in Lockdown 1 I've kept a spare bag. I'm still going to look In Aldi as we  have it more often at this time of the year. I promise not to indulge in panic buying. 😉
