SUV best for snow

Agree with the tyres advise above.
My own experience - Volvo V70 (FWD) on 'normal' Pirelli tyres. Great all-round, except for snow & ice - every hill became impossible.
Tried a cheap set winter tyres a few years ago on another set of wheels - MASSIVE improvement, didn't get stuck again, but also braking and cornering much better.
Now have a set of Pirelli Sottozero tyres on it - and it's better still - even deliberately trying to wheelspin or slide in snow / ice / slush is almost impossible!
I also have a XC90 (AWD) on M&S tyres. This is very good (as expected), but if you do get it sliding, it is difficult to stop because of the extra weight!0 -
Ssangyong Tourismo with very cheap snow tyres.
Rear-drive, terrible wet grip from the chinese rubber, and a very light rear end, mean you can get a nice drift out of a 2.25tonne car on most roundabouts.
(If you turn the traction control off)
No need to thank me....0 -
When it snows stay indoors, no 4x4 needed0

I'm not a tyre expert, but Michelin CrossClimate tyres seem to be the best all rounders. They are, according to the hype, the only summer tyres homologated for winter.
I have a set and they drive very well as summer tyres, but they also handled really well last year during "the beast from the east" and in this years snow and ice. I believe none of the other all season tyres have the summer handling.0 -

Michelin CrossClimate didn't do too well.
Other brands are available as they say.0 -
Michelin cross climates are a good summer tyre that is ok in Winter.
Goodyear vector 4 season gen 2 are a good winter tyre that is ok in summer.
Other brands of all season are generally somewhere in between.0 -
I read that as CrossClimate did pretty well, but didn't come top.Check here:

Checking this review
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/7-of-the-best-all-season-tyres-for-2018.htm he reckons the CrossClimate is probably the best All Season tyre if you live in the South like me, but if you live in a colder area you might want to pick one of the other tyres in his top 3.
Apparently the Michelin is the best in the dry, but the Goodyear handles ice better.
He also recommends some mid priced options, if the top 3 are too expensive for you.0 -
How often do you actually get snow?
Is this just a consideration because we've just had some or do you get it regularly?
Do you want an SUV either way, or primarily with snow in mind?0 -
Nope. 2mins 53s and 5mins 40sec.With a 4 wheel drive you will get moving easier and are less likely to get stuck
