Unrecognized credit search

I also have a number of searches with AF code recorded on my Noddle report. Generated by Hitachi, Barclaycard and Vanquis. I'm a little confused as to why Vanquis would search my file!

Did you give any of these organisations permission to search? I thought no one can carry out a search without explicit permission.

Yeah...Hitachi appears because I used a price comparison site. With BarclayCard, I did an eligibility check on. But Vanquis...absolutely no reason whatsoever...

Thank you for all these replies and #10-#15.

I don't remember asking for any quotations and I had never been on Vanquis's site before. It is reassuring that others have had similar entries and AF codes on Noddle reports.

I'll post back when I hear from Noddle - email sent yesterday.

The posts here have been helpful although I am concerned in case it is a hard search. How can I tell if the search is a hard one, please?



Under searches in Noddle there are OTHERS and YOUR SEARCHES. Because the Vanquis AF search comes under OTHERS I wonder if it is a hard search.



I sent the email to Noddle (contact@noddle.co.uk) on 02 February - maybe I am too impatient but, so far, there has been no reply.

OP - I am in the same position as you (AF credit search by Hitachi Capital UK on my credit file). I assume this was as a result of me using the MSE eligibility calculator. I too emailed Noddle. They have confirmed AF is an affordability search by a prospective lender. . They haven't answered my question on whether this constitutes a hard search or a soft one. I've emailed them again and will update you if I hear back from them.

Meanwhile, I suggest you check your search history on the other 2 CRA's (Experian and Clearscore). This might offer you some reassurance (there's no record of a hard search on my file).

I checked Clearscore today and there was nothing untoward - no record of Vanquis search.

I managed to also log in to Experian but could only see a Credit Score - there was no way of finding any searches or bank account/credit card details or information.

If you hear anything from Noddle I'll be really interested, Snugglebuggles. I still have had no reply from my email enquiry to Noddle.

Green garnet - no further reply from Noddle re hard score / soft score status.
Like you, still in limbo but feeling more reassured as each day passes.

Try registering for MSE Credit Club. That will help you determine the above.

Will keep you posted if I hear anything back from. Noddle.
