I can’t believe you’d suggest it would be a good thing I could t get any credit for 6 years? Are you serious that by not repaying £400 that I deserve no credit or bank accounts for 6 years
And yes before you ask again I am serious.
I think you have to ask, are you serious? You want the CIFA removed so you can get a bank account and get credit.0 -

Well what's wrong with them wanting a bank account?
Life without a bank account in the UK can be pretty rough so it's perfectly reasonable that they'd want one.
If they were just after credit I'd agree with you.0 -
Ideally I love a bank account even a basic one. You are so quick to judge that I deliberately chose to not pay back Littlewoods, i posted for advice on how the best way forward is, not to be judged. There’s plenty of examples of people who fell ill with depression and don’t want to contact companies when they fall into debt. Are you saying these people deserve a 6 year sentence too? I can’t even begin to improve my credit score without this being lifted. The cifas entry is implying that I used an address that I didn’t live at to gain credit, NOT that I didn’t make any payments.0

I agree everybody wants a bank account but OP didn’t say they just want a bank account, it was implied OP wanted the credit aspect just as much. All I’m saying is maybe the fact they had the CIFA has kept them out of financial difficulties.0 -

Have you got any active bank accounts at the moment? Any documents that you could obtain from the time that proves your address was there at that time?
The only way of getting it removed is by complaining to the company that put it on.
If it was loaded in July 2014 it will automatically lift in July 2020.0 -
There, all you need to know.

I doubt OP will be getting a bank account soon!0 -
I understand what your saying, but your assuming I didn’t have any intention to repay the money, I could go on to explain a long story about why I couldn’t repay but I’m not..
years later, still not having made any attempt to pay....you can see how it looks based on the facts presented0 -
your problem was not communicating with Littlewoods - did you ask for reduced payments, send them an income/expenditure form? I am guessing you ignored their contact (not responding to letters sent to your address?) so they could only assume you committed fraud as they had no evidence to the contrary

Having said that to place a CIFAS marker, there needs to be evidence that would stand up in court. There isn't. A court of law assumes innocent until proven guilty, not the other way round. Not having evidence to the contrary does not mean it's OK to load a CIFAS marker. Instead they needed evidence to prove that fraud was committed.0 -

I understand people have all sort of difficulties that prevent them from paying their debts there are so many reasons, some have very good reasons and some have pretty poor excuses.
You say I am judging you but I am not. Your first post comes across as though you don’t really care whether the bill was paid or not, now I see that is probably not the case and you were having real issues, unfortunately your original post gave no clues that you were going through any hardship, for that I apologise, I do not want to add to your angst over this matter, it is good that you have been working on your finances, it will be very useful for you going forward. I still maintain though that having the CIFA has probably stopped you getting into real financial trouble if you were not well these past years.0 -
