Thing is, my parents are in their mid 80's and not in very good health, and I have my own health problems, so I really can't be doing with all this crap they're coming at me with. I just want and need to grow old gracefully now.

Perhaps it would be an idea for your parents to let your ex LL have at least your phone number, to save them any more hassle? Then you can take it from there, if you want to

I know it's off topic (couldn't resist) but wasn't the dog buried in the koi carp pond?

There was a bag for life involved somewhere too, wasn't there?

I would not string along someone who could be a mentally unstable idiot or just a nasty piece of works for fun. Why anyone would think potentially bringing aggro into your life is "fun" is beyond me. The ex landlord cannot pursue you so ignore any coms from them.

Can they just block the number?
  • Or get a solicitor to write them a polite but stern letter to them by return to explain when the tenancy ended and you fully dispute any claim and as the statute of limitations has now passed, any further attempt at trying to contact you or your parents about this would result in you claiming harassment.

Pretty sure your parents haven't given him permission to retain their telephone number or cold contact them so maybe there is some element of GDPR being breached.

I'm sure one will do it for a reasonable fee and that should be the end of it. Alternatively - just tell your parents to politely stop calling them as they are not responsible for any debts that you may or may not have and she will report him for harassment as you have already said.

No. Best not to engage with idiots unless you have to!

You could get my mate Erwin Schrodinger to ring em up and say it wasn't a dog you didn't have, but a non-existent cat? That'll givem food for thought.

Although the advice to bar their number and ignore them is probably more sensible.
