Oi, smurfitt. Where are you? There's a new Lidl/Athena case that has been posted today, yet you've not made any input. If you want to be a proper regular you'll need to up your game! Wakey wakey.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5958007/lidyls-athena-parking-chargePlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

These are all the same and you only needed to search the forum for Lidl.
Such an easy one to complain about & get cancelled (we never write complaints for people, you can certainly do that and it then comes from the heart).
Obviously the subject line needs the PCN number and the words 'complaint about Athena' in it.
Says this 50-something regular, who taught myself how to use a computer!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It was tongue in cheek! We are a funny bunch, you will get used to us once this is overturned, if you do stick around a bit.

We have to have some lighthearted relief from time to time, otherwise we'd all go stir crazy, then you'd never have had the advice I gave to you, which saw your PCN cancelled within 24 hours!
:rotfl: :rotfl:
On a more serious note, we could all watch posts all day and still never keep up with the demand, in which case the scammers would win and lots of very vulnerable people would be steamrollered in the process. We all do our bit to help complete strangers with their problems, Coupon-mad, our most prolific poster, despite having a full time job, most nights is up until 2am (and sometimes even later) offering advice.
I'm sure most people we help are pleased that regulars do give up their time, voluntarily, in such huge quantity. It's not that none of us don't have a life, it's the deep passion we have about the unfairness of all this.
Are you aware of the writing of Pastor Martin Niemöller?

Yes I'm aware of his writings. A great man.
I am also aware of how regulars in forums act condescending towards new people to what amounts to nothing short of bully boy tactics to raise a laugh. So I hope you are gentleman and understand as an elderly lady I am very cautious.
Replies to posts can be made via private message so its wrong to assume that because you dont know about it, help isn't being offered. I dont need recognition for helping someone, I would do it because like you I believe in fairness. However, I doubt I can contribute too much as I am very rarely on the internet but hope the little I can will help others.0 -
Hi
I just would like to say thank to all helpful comments in this thread.
I had followed the link and adapt the other people's template.
I've just got a reply within hours as below.
Thanks again.
Dear Sir or Madam
Re: Your Contact
Thank you for taking the time to contact our CEO. I have been asked to reply on his behalf.
I was sorry to learn that you received a parking charge. I appreciate this may have been frustrating for you.
Lidl is a national retailer. As such, we have stores in locations with limited parking space and in common with many of our competitors, our store car parks are abused to a significant and detrimental extent. We have therefore judged it necessary to take measures so that our stores parking facilities are available first and foremost to our customers.
In order to ensure that sufficient parking spaces are available at all times to our customers, Lidl employs third party contractors to monitor and control our car parks. So far, this service has proved reliable and effective in reducing car park abuse and in freeing up spaces for our customers.
In light of your comments, on this occasion only, I have requested that the parking charge is cancelled. Athena will confirm the cancellation in writing in due course.
Thank you again for contacting us.
Yours sincerely,
For and on behalf of Lidl Great Britain Limited
Anita Mcarthur

That was easy, wasn't it?! Lidl always cancel Athena PCNs if people persist.
