    Hi All,

I've been in my home since September now. My landlord initially sent a new consumer form to the provider (Solarplicity... )

Needless to say, and now unsurprisingly (after reading Trust Pilot) despite chasing and calling several times (once being asked to call again tomorrow) I've had no correspondence until today...

    Dear Adam,

    Thank you for contacting Solarplicity.

I apologise for the delay in response.

Please give us a call to have an account set up.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards,

I know the electricity is supplied by them - however, I'd ideally like to just pay what is owed and change. What is the best course of action?

Long time reader, first time poster. Please be gentle:beer::beer:

Appreciate any insight and advice on this one. Reading the reviews gives me the shudders.

Make sure you have the meter readings from the day you became the tenant.
    Take meter reading(s) today.
Call them up and make sure that you are setup as a customer on a tariff which has zero exit charges. Give them the opening reading(s) with the opening date and today's reading(s) too.
Then look for a new supplier using an accredited price comparison site (this page has the list of accredited sites https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/consumers/household-gas-and-electricity-guide/how-switch-energy-supplier-and-shop-better-deal/compare-gas-and-electricity-tariffs-ofgem-accredited-price-comparison-sites )

The solarplicity customer portal seems to have been down again since Thursday... unless anyone is having more luck than me.

Only a few weeks since the last outage of several days.

    Not inspiring confidence.
  • It's worth noting that, on their Cheap Energy Club entries, is a banner stating:

WARNING: As of Feb 2019, Companies House has given notice Simplicity will be dissolved within 2 months.

    Really?

Why are MSE even offering them as they are prohibited currently from taking on new customers, including upgrading existing single fuel customers to dual fuel until 22-May-2019 (unless recindied by Ofgem earlier)

Why would Companies House give this notice to MSE???
They've never given such notice to MSE about the 10 suppliers who have gine bust.

There doesn't even seem to be any such indication on the Companies House website

Just checked the CEC, and I don't see them offering Solarplicity at all.

So where are you seeing this banner, Streaky Bacon?
(as I see no warning even if I set them as my current supplier)

23 Feb 2019 Compulsory strike-off action has been discontinued
19 Feb 2019 First Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off
So no the company isn't being struck off.

I can't tell, then, whether this is News, Fake News or Fake Fake News. .....a sign of the times.
