Iphone 6 replacement battery vs new one

My iphone 6 battery seems to be pretty bad these days and not lasting very long so I have a booking with an Apple store to replace the battery which costs something £45, then I realized by looking online that I could get a new iphone 6 for £150 brand new. My current phones condition is in pretty good condition as its been in a case since i purchased it so I am wondering is the cost of battery quite expensive considering the cost of a new one? do all phones have this issue of a two shelf life before having to upgrade to a new one?

I took Apple's 'offer' to change the battery on my 6 for £25 18 months ago. Loads of people experience battery life issues and Apple had to do something although they stopped short at admitting an issue.

Not sure if the £25 offer is still running these days.

I would save the money and just replace the battery rather than buy the same model again new.

Not expensive, considering that it's Apple and the battery is "non-removable".

Erm they did admit an issue and that's why they did the battery exchange price offer. It might not have been what you wanted to hear but thats a different issue. :rotfl:

Can you link to their admission.
I only read general batteries degrade in time waffle' and 'out of loyalty to our customers we will offer' etc.

I haven't looked in over a year because I have had no need to but I would be really interested to see an admission and an apology from them.

If not an issue why offer £25 for a battery replacement and then go back to normal prices. It was an issue for Apple that's why they did it.

The battery replacement offer was because they did not tell their customers what they had been doing with regards to slowing down the phone when the battery could not handle the load.

This will still be an issue going forward but not has prominent as they improve battery, hardware and software integration with future phones.

as I said it's not what you want to hear from Apple as proof in point is that you first said they did not admit an issue to now say have they given an apology.

Right, so there isn't a statement by them admitting a fault?

Erm they did not release a statement that satisfied whatever you want to see and hear.

They just offered a £25 battery replacement program because they had no issue and just did it because they fancied doing it.

    As my first post then.
Slightly confused what you are trying to get across.

You said they stopped short admitting an issue. That’s what the whole battery replacement was about. If they did not admit an issue they would have still been charging customers fulll price for a battery during that time.

No, still the same lines that were being shared when I looked last 18 months ago.

'all batteries age over time, and they become unhealthy at a point in time, and an unhealthy battery has a probability that it will create an unexpected restart,” Cook told ABC‘s Rebecca '

I thought you were intimidating a full and frank apology with Apple completely holding their hands up. That would result in 'free' batteries rather than good will.

Those 'apologising headlines ' aren't exactly a reflection of the content of the article with Apple still hiding behind the 'ALL' batteries deteriorate in time rather than 'yep, our batteries were poor'.
