  • I got a settlement quote online this morning for the loan and it's only £665 so I'll just call them up and pay it next Friday, then other than the mortgage there is no interest accruing debt in our house.  Long may that continue

  • Just noticed my loan still says 7 payments to go...hahahaha definitely just the 1 payment left, I'll just update it next week on pay day!

1 PAYMENT TO GO - so ridiculously excited about that.

  • There was me thinking that there would be nothing interesting to share, turns out I jinxed myself...

On Monday I received a txt from Barclays saying they'd found an 'issue' with my card and they were sending me a new one, it arrived yesterday...thought that was a little strange but called them up and they said they couldn't tell me what the issue was but my existing card will be cancelled as soon as I use my new one.

This morning I was lying in bed, every morning I check my bank accounts (it's a weird OCD that I have) and I noticed a pending transaction on my TSB account for £225...you can see where this is going right?  This was for a website I'd never used and on an account that I literally only use for Direct Debits as it's my bills account.  Then I had a fun call to the bank to cancel my card and being made to feel like a fraudster myself when the person on the phone told me that if it happened again to my account, I may not get my money back....like I did this to myself!!  No idea how long it will be before I get that money back, I remember being grateful that I had money in other accounts that I could shuffle around if I needed to, if this happened at the start of this diary...we could have been having a very different conversation.

Also i received a letter from the bank this morning about my last over payment on my loan, they thanked me for the payment and advised they will be taking my last DD on 1st September which will clear the balance and then they will close my account, genuinely I want to frame that letter...it's like a certificate of achievement.

That's a nice chunky update for an otherwise quiet time in the financial month.

Wonderful news on the loan being almost gone but sorry about the fraud on your account. I hope you get the money back soon.  We bank with Santander and my husband had a couple of strange transactions on his card at the end of last year which we alerted the bank about immediately as I check our accounts daily too.  They froze the card and reissued a new one and the money was back in our account the same day.  They knew there was an issue though as they blocked payments amounting to almost £10k a fraudster tried to take out the previous day.

  • Thanks for popping by enthusiasticsaver, it's a bit frustrating as it's the 2nd time it's happened on my TSB card, even though I barely use it for spending.

    Oh my
Nothing worse than unauthorised transactions or suspected fraud; hopefully it gets sorted quickly; it wud seem 'devil makes work for idle hands' applied very much to online fraudsters during lockdown!
