  • Further to my first post, I have provided the debt collectors with evidence of zero outstanding balance, disregarding whatever was made a deposit or not, which I was not informed of. After a while chasing the debt collectors about this complaint, I received a response that they will put my case on hold while they contact Spark. No further communication from Spark apart from the prices going up. In the meantime I have switched to a big-6 energy supplier. Byebye Spark

I am the official company representative of Spark Energy. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. • Dear Jenny,
I'm not sure what you can do really here, I just hope I can leave Spark without any further bother
  • OVO seem to be building up quite a nest-egg of bankrupt 'cheap' energy companies...
Economy Energy is their latest one, I am/was a customer of their:(s. Will we get the same treatment???
Thanks for the warning. OFGEM need to get their act together, too.
(as an aside, I was put on to EconEnergy by...MSE moneysaving 'expert'...Hum.)
  • I am being bombarded with messages from Opos which I now understand are debt collectors...I was never informed that they were acting on the administration of Spark Energy...apparently like other people they are requesting an outstanding balance even though my direct debit is still in operation and that my credit score will be affected...the stress this is causing a lot of people is not fair when we are the innocent victims here...
    Any advice would be appreciated...

  • meercat, file a complaint with Opos with evidence of zero outstanding payments. screenshots of your online account with Spark including dates and your name and account number(full screen) seem sufficient. if not dealt with within a week, do ring Opos and follow up.

ps, having left Spark, I am expecting a hefty reimbursement of overpaid (over-estimated) electricity charges, I hope they process this swiftly. over 2 months' worth £££
  • Hi cassius.daydreams

I recommend contacting Spark directly about concerns like this, I've been offering my help in this thread and in other threads on the forum, as the debt collection agency would or should refer back to Spark Energy so by assisting, I can cut out the middle man.

If the balance relates to pre and post administration, it's easier for us to review things directly on our systems.

I'm happy to put anyone that needs help in touch with one of our Customer Relations Team if they email the address given in my profile, and confirm full name, supply address and phone number.

    Kind regards

  • I just tried to switch my energy supplies to Ovo. It was supposed to save me £40 per month which I was happy with. It seemed all efficient until I received an email yesterday informing me of the date my direct debit would fall on. I pay my current supplier £184 per month on the 19th of the month. Ovo wanted to start my direct debit of £140 per month on the 28th. So that would mean this month I would be paying £324 for my energy. I called them to explain that I can't afford to do this and was told that Ovo like to have one month in advance and they could not change the date so it fell on the same date as my previous supplier date.
This was not made very clear to me when I joined up. So I had to cancel it.
    What a waste of time.
