I've been told today on the phone that the direct debit customers (who were in credit??) were not yet transferred. I've been told that i would now have 2 account numbers, and they have recalculated my balance. So... I think, hope that it is ok.Goals

Hi,
I'm be chased by Opos for not paying my Nov 18 bill, which I did pay and I have a receipt confirming that I did. I have been given the same story as others here, that it was taken as a security deposit. I was not made aware of this nor was I told (prior to the contact by Opos) that I still owed money to Spark. I paid my money in good faith to spark to settle my Nov bill. This money has been misappropriated to another purpose, and I believe this is fraudulent.
I have never been in debt to anyone, and I strongly object to this action by Spark and Ovo which has led to repeated contact from Opos.
I have contacted Ofgem about this and the CAB. I have also contacted Spark, who did nothing other than say that my money had been used as a security deposit. I will be interested to know what you are going to do/say.

Hi.
OVO Energy have taken over from Spark. I have paid all my bills regularly, but am now receiving debt recovery messages from a firm. On contacting them they say I am in arrears of 165 gbp (my November payment is now apparently a deposit to Ovo!) and I should pay that to them; else my credit history will be affected.
Is this normal? Or am I being scammed.
Thanks for any help

At first I was told my December Direct Debit was used as a security deposit but then told by another agent that was not the case & money was credited towards future bills so I must pay debt collectors. I complained & this was to be referred to billing. It’s now been two weeks & only correspondence has been a letter to say my bills will be going up
My day off tomorrow will be spent attempting to speak with Spark 0 -

Update!
I was asked by Jenny from the Spark Customer Relations team, to get in touch with her regarding my complaint. I was sceptical about receiving a positive outcome, but to my surprise, that's exactly what has happened.
Jenny got in touch, provided an apology, released my security deposit and paid it back to me via BACS, and credited my energy account by way of compensation for the upset caused.
I still have to pay Opos (the debt collection agency) but now that I have my money back I'm happy to do so.
I would encourage anyone in this same position, to contact Jenny at Spark (contact details on this forum) and give her a chance to put things right.
Thank you Jenny and Laura!0
