41mph in a 30mph is in the safe zone for a positive prosecution in Court also, in other words the Court doesn't tend to be lenient, first offence or not.
I personally keep in my head that I don't want to pay out £100 to anyone other than myself, this keeps me within the speed limit. if you're late, better to be slightly late or really late if you get pulled for speeding.

He’s got 28 days to nominate himself as the driver. Following that he may or may not be issued at ticket.

Any recorded speed above the speed limit they consider worthy of prosecution is the safe zone to be prosecuted. Even at 31 it wold be down to the defendant to cast reasonable doubt on the accuracy of the approved device.

It might still be worth a shot but you need to be prepared for them arriving at the door.

I’m not even sure he lives in Scotland, I’d say if he lives in London the chances of the Met doing it are very low.
