My first post in this thread stated I had experienced the issue and on two handsets. As for the notification issue, I think you've misunderstood.

    Apologies, I missed that one.

I had a bit of a dig round today and found that 'Battery Optimisation' was switched on for Google Maps.

I've turned it off, but haven't been anywhere to test it.

    Will see what tomorrow brings.

Bumping this back, as what I did seems to have made it much better ...

Next 'problem' when I'm at home, which I often am, it always seems to think that I'm at the wrong place BUT, there are two locations in exactly the same place on the map (when viewed on my PC's Google timeline) 'My Village' and 'My House'

Now, I suggest that it's a mistake I've made as the 'wrong' location probably somewhere I've entered or clicked 'yes' to, when I meant 'no' :o

Is there a way I can remove 'my village' so that it will then automatically default to 'my house'

Difficult to explain, but I hope what I've written makes some sort of sense ...

EDIT - photo added - the two locations are about 10/15 yards apart!

Click on the menu and go to "Your Places" and delete the offending entry.

    Phone presumably, not laptop?

I've had a look and flagged 'my house' as 'Home' but strangely, 'my village' doesn't appear in the list of 'My Places'
