VW Emissions SPW Law

Hello,
I applied last year and before the deadline about the VW emissions compensation scheme via claim 'against vw com'
Got the standard reply and waited & waited, so for for the past couple of months I sent email's on a regular basis requesting any updates then two came along at once from two different lawyers working on behalf of SPG Law.
Both saying exactly the same, a quick search via the net shows SPG to be one of the biggest law firms about but the reply I received seems a tad suspicious as they are asking for the following information.
"Proof of Identification – i.e. Passport, drivers licence
Proof of Address – i.e. Utility bill (must be within the last 3 months)
V5 ownership document – this to recover your VIN number (located on page 2) and obtain further information about your car**
Proof of Purchase OR Lease/Finance Agreements e.g. receipt/credit card bill/finance document
Any documents/correspondence received from the manufacturer or dealership relating to the emissions scandal"
Now with all that information a scammer could do untold damage, what is a worry is it has been over a week since I voiced my concerns to both lawyers in question and I have not had any reply.
Anyone else dealing with something similar ?

Compensation for what exactly?0

Seems reasonable that you should have to provide all of that if you're claiming, but surely you knew all of this when you signed up?
What are you wanting to be compensated for?0 -
This is why (see below) and no I didn't realise you had to give ALL the details they have asked for, understandable the Vehicle Registration Document is required because that proves I am the owner of the vehicle but still unsure about supplying the rest of the data.
"If you’ve ever owned a diesel VW, Audi, Skoda or Seat you might be eligible to claim back the ENTIRE PURCHASE PRICE OF YOUR CAR!
This is because VW group deliberately misled you about how high your car's emissions were.
The extra emissions damaged both the environment and your car's performance.
In the US, VW have already been successfully taken to court and on average car owners won around £5,000."0 -
On the 18 September, 2015 it was revealed that VW had dishonestly cheated the US emissions testing regime in respect of NOx emissions and it quickly became established that 1.2 million vehicles containing illegal "defeat devices" had been supplied to purchasers in the UK. Each of these vehicles, which ought to have never been on UK roads, emits NOx pollution at levels far higher than that permitted by law.
The excess pollution caused by vehicles supplied as part of VW's fraud harms all of us contributing to hundreds of premature deaths annually and causing toxic air pollution in our cities.
Since the discovery of the fraud, VW has paid tens of billions of dollars of compensation and fines in the United States and has paid a €1 billion fine in Germany. A number of VW executives have been jailed and further revelations have emerged such as the gassing of monkeys by VW with poisonous NOx.
Despite all of this, VW continues to refuse to pay compensation to UK purchasers of affected vehicles. Therefore, tens of thousands of current and former UK VW vehicle owners have joined together to take VW to court.0 -
I'll ask again: What are you claiming compensation for? What loss have you suffered?0
-
Cheated the US emissions tests.
Are you in the USA?
So no losses for UK owners/drivers then? Your claiming for what?

I still can't see what loss you've personally suffered that merits compensation.0 -
With the replies so far it does seem like we are wandering away from I originally asked.
"Anyone else dealing with something similar ? "
So I take it no-one else is concerning themselves with the case, just wondered if anyone else had be involved with VW and SPG Law in particular.
The answer so far is no, fair enough in my view.0 -

There will be many who've been 'encouraged' to claim but it's been discussed to death on here before.
Nearly 4yrs on from the issue being raised, VW are still selling cars, 2nd hand values are still holding up and if I asked you you'd have no idea what the NOx emissions on your car are/were because they're not declared in UK.0
