Money Moral Dilemma: Should our friends pay for part of our holiday?
Comments
-
Just say "No, can't go then".
Simple.
Would you go on holiday with them? Yes, if it's week's XYZ.....
Would you pay more to go on holiday with them? Hell no.
Just say no.0 -
No matter how hard up you are, definitely not.
Just explain your max budget, without even dropping the slightest whiff of a hint.
If they randomly offer, happy days.
Whatever you do, I hope you get to go on holiday with your friends

Yes, don't ask don't get. Why hang back?, ask if they'll pay for the whole lot as it was them that asked you.

Absolutely not - if you can’t afford to go at that time of year then tell them so. Could they be hoping you’ll split the cost of a Villa or apartment in peak season?
I could possibly be the “friend” in this instance as I work in a school with restricted holiday dates to a point but not as a Teacher. I know some of my friends can’t always afford the school holiday prices , so we have a discussion on costs before flights & holidays before they are released to try to stick to an outline budget. I also make use of BH a lot which often softens the financial blow as it means we all take less Annual Leave.0 -
Of course they shouldn’t. THEY invited YOU to join THEIR holiday. If you can’t afford it then go on your own when it’s cheaper.0
-
Of course not.
You gave them those dates to choose from so unless they are able to go on one of those weeks when it is cheaper. Just tell them it is more expensive than you expected and you van only afford the cheaper dates.0 -
Put up or shut up, is the answer. You've been asked whether you want to go on holiday, you know the cost. The answer is a simply one, yes or noIf I ruled the world.......0
-
No, just don't go simple.0
-
No. It's up to you to decide whether you are willing to pay the higher price so that you can go on holiday with your friends or go by yourselves when it is cheaper.0
-
Wow, the "dilemmas" really are scraping the barrel these days.
Yes, you definitely should ask them, fictional person. THEY asked YOU to go on holiday, so they should stump up the difference so that you can go with them. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to fly first class as well, so stick that on your invoice to your friends as well.
If they don't pay up, remember that you can charge interest and a penalty for late payment...0
