I applied to open an account on 22nd Jan.
They set up a DD on 30th Jan.
They took the £1 on 1st Feb
They opened the account on 6th Feb.
It seems that to add further money they use the Direct Debit. That won't be quick.
Not sure how they transfer withdrawals but that takes 3 days apparently.
Fortunately I made a deposit with Marcus pending this account opening. I think I will leave it there!!
That was opened immediately and I deposited straight away by fast transfer.
I will also write-off my £1...0 -

I only got as far as £1 in my account too last year, but I did close it and get my £1 backRetired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."0 -
ICICI very poor. I applied online 26/1 for a HISAVE Account. Still waiting for a decision after 3 emails, moving the decision date further and further into February, as they couldn't find the application reference No on file. I have now cancelled the request and signed up a second account with Tesco. Immediate set up and transfer of money to this account within 10 mins. Sorted. Bye bye ICICI0

Tried to open a savings account with them and it's taken about 3 weeks and I still haven't received any log in details. They took £1.00 by DD from my current account, which I doubt I'll get refunded. I know it's a minimal amount but if they're doing it regularly, they'll be making quite a bit. I do wish this site would stop recommending such bogus companies!0

My first post on these forums... wish I had read this thread before I applied for the ICICICICICI account as I have exactly the same experience as above.
Applied 18th Feb, finally had notification that the account is open today but I can't do a thing as I have no password to log in with and that may or may not be in the post.
Disappointed that MSE would have flagged this account up if the customer service/ website is acknowledged to be quite so dreadful!
Guess Marcus will get another customer...0 -
Fortunately ICICI reckon the account number I gave them for the £1 DD didn't work, so not even £1 lost and looks like I've been saved from their admin pain.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

I opened a savings account with Cynergy Bank in only three days, so you might like to consider them too.0
