I used their contact form, and they emailed back
Hmm, that's what I did, but they ignored my message. They've also ignored an email. I tried logging in to make sure my account hadn't been closed and they tried to flog me a CFD account. I guess that's why they want us to log in every three months.

I'll give them another week (there is a 14 day notice period for closing the account in their T&C).
  • I just referred a friend and she made a typo on her email (she used an "n" in her email when it should have been an "m"). I would be surprised if the email address that has the typo is actually a real email/someone uses it. I said to her not to do anything ie not deposit anything until it's sorted. So I contacted Trading 212 twice with no reply.

What should I do? Do you think if she used the account it would a problem and her money could potentially be at risk (I guess if that was a real email the person could click 'forgot password' and get sent a new one and get her money? To be honest I don't even know for certain if she could use the account if she cannot verify the email.

    What should she do?

As per my post #2 on this thread some companies are so bad you don't even want their freebies. Good luck to those trying to close their accounts down cleanly.

She could try registering the email address with the typo if it's available.

They're FCA authorised and subject to the FOS, so if it comes to it accounts can be shut down cleanly in the fullness of time, with an appropriate amount of redress for the inconvenience.

It took over two weeks, but my account is finally closed. I had no response to my initial emails, but when I made a complaint it was picked up very quickly.

I see the minimum deposit is now £20. If I invite someone, they deposit £20 and the share they get is under £20 have they made a loss?

I guess what I'm basically asking is if you get back the £20 deposit. Cheers

No you don't make a loss. Yes you do get it back.

It's not a deposit. It's funding your account so you can buy shares, if you want to.

It stays your money. So you can withdraw it later.

I completed the contact form three times over the last month asking for my account to be closed and on the 3rd attempt I mentioned complaining to the regulatory body and they finally replied saying it will be closed in the next few days.
