Opinions on iPhone XS deal

Well, it's a primitive school maths, not rocket science.
Similar SIM-only deal is ~£10 p.m.
£30+36*(£49.50-£10)=£1452
In fact , you can get 3 months free (Topcashback + https://smarty.co.uk/plans/small#plans), that adds extra £30 to the cost of the phone making it £1482.
!!!!!!, it's just a mobile phone, not a car!0 -
Hi,
Is £49.50/month over 3 years and £30 upfront a good deal for an iPhone XS 64GB? It includes unlimited texts/calls and 4 GB data allowance.
Thanks
I assume your unable to get a credit card on 0% interest or have that Money lying around to buy an iPhone.
Quick look At those figures and it looks like you could be paying an extra £400+ just so you can spread the cost out. So from that stand point it ain’t a good deal.
But I understand if you can’t financially buy it outright so if you can’t do the leg work and check all the other networks then maybe someone on here can do it for you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

In a word no. Check the SIM only offers and look to buy a phone separately. Finance to buy a phone? Do you really need to spend that much, it’s just a phone! BTW, a smart phone can eat 4GB of data very quickly on 4G.
For middle of the road SIM only contract prices, Three are good value, and at least are useful for comparison.
Beware that many providers do not limit your spending, ie no overspend caps... it helps boost their profit. Read the T&Cs very carefully.

It's the user who "eats" gigabytes, no the phone (with correct settings)
Yip agree with you.
i have a iphone x and only used 900mb and half way through my billing cycle :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've a smartphone, used extensively and rarely use 4GB.
I'd also caution against a 3-year contract, none of the big players offer them, whilst Ofcom frowns on them. Whose offering this deal? Or is it one of these hybrid deals where you have separate handset and airtime deals? make sure you're not getting into a business deal, with no consumer rights is the point I'm making, long-windedly!0 -
3 yeas is in fact a credit contract/plan for the handset only. The services contract is shorter, possibly even 1-month. All providers offer this sort of contracts now.
As the services contract can be cancelled easily, it's hardly a surprise that providers charge extraordinary interest on the credit they provide.
Or it can be a business contract that, indeed, requires a lot of caution.0 -

I have to wonder why anyone buys a smartphone with mobile data, then turns off the data, except for WiFi use. Being able to use 4G data “everywhere” is surely the purpose of having a phone that does more than make calls and texts. A cheap tablet would work at home on WiFi...0 -

All my music is IN the phone.
I hate even web browsing on a tiny screen, let alone watching TV/video.
Maps don't use a lot of data. Neither does some occasional web browsing, checking e-mails, skype without video etc.
