My son suffers from cold sores and hes not a very good patient with it.
Helps if you can work out the triggers.
Mine are sun, cold and stress. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
and I will just flag up that if eczema becomes infected with the cold sore virus / HSV, then it can quite quickly become very serious, potentially life-threatening especially in small children. Google eczema herpeticum for the full details ...
DH is a life-long eczema sufferer who also gets cold sores, a couple of times he's been extremely ill with it. Thankfully we know now roughly what it looks like, and thankfully also there are now anti-virals to knock it on the head.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Anybody worried about having the Herpes Simplex virus, Google Bell's Palsy (and worry some more).0

One statistic that took me by surprise is that close to 70% of people in the UK have herpes.
Now, I'm not the NHS or anything but that just doesn't come across as true to me. If 70% of people had an incurable disease, surely that's an epidemic and as it affects women worst than men, surely there should be a major issue with babies contracting the virus during child birth?
I'm doctor but surely that 70% figure can't be right?
Yes it's true, if you get cold sores, you have herpes. It's why you shouldn't kiss babies on the mouth as it will spread. Though, most people don't know that they have it. I've never had a cold sore or anything so I could be one of the luck 30% that doesn't have it.0 -
