At this stage, IMHO its adding to the confusion not diffusing it. When we know exactly whats happening then thats the time for MSE to produce guides. Using a scattergun approach doesnt particularly help.

I suspect that if a green card were required as of 29th March there would be some sort of transition period of grace to allow for it.

Not much point in guessing or having to guess until we know whats happening.

all im saying is, every problem (apart from the irish border) such as green card, shortages of xyz and delays at customs are all easy fix, if some forward planning was being implimented instead of looking at march29th as a cliff edge where everything ceases to exist.

Trade deals could have already been negotiated within the last 3 years, suppliers and logistics companies could have put in place plans so there is no disruption. If your travelling in europe after mar 29th you could have already applied for your green card.

But no, our government has been fannying on with the EU to see who gets the CDs and who keeps the cat, and the EU wants everything.

True. But many people get divorced to get out of a bad relationship.

Its pitched as a "warning" though and like its a big issue and problem and headlined in a Clickbait way. It should be an informational message IF we have a no deal Brexit. No reason to alarm / worry people.

No-one is trying to alarm anyone. This is the MSE site, it's alerting drivers to a potential issue that could cost them money. The title very clear states "if there's no deal".

The initial response from Project Hate is the predictable one seen after every warning that comes out about leave, particularly no deal - claiming it's just "Project Fear" as if there was no chance at all of this happening which is incorrect.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Into the 80's you needed an International Driving Licence to drive in Spain, and into the 2000's still needed a Green Card to drive in the EU if you wanted to carry your fully comp insurance over there.

Neither was onerous to get and were much cheaper than £39 billion!

Hooray for freeing ourselves from imaginary oppression. Can't wait to rejoice for that fantasy of national liberation with our competent government.

If you drive down to Poole and pop your car on the ferry for a day out in Jersey .... you need a green card - AND - you need to have a country-indicator sticker on your car.

Lots of people pop over to the Channel Islands with their car every year and ... because they needed a green card and a sticker, you know what, nobody died.
