Having left the Lib Dems due to their goldfish like memory about their election promises I can assure you that Jo will do and say whatever she thinks will get her into Downing Street.

I love the way you and you’re ilk couldn’t wait to drive us Blairites (yes, I’m proud to be a Blairite) out of the party ( the party I’d been in for 30 years) and now expect to get my vote directly or indirectly....

Well you know what, you can all....go jump...

You’ve created the party you wanted - enjoy. I’ve come to terms with that. But, other parties are available for the unwelcome, derided centrists you and your Corbynista mates despise.

If Jo Swinson gets into bed with JC she’ll quickly find Change UK are suddenly popular....

JC and his fawning Corbynistas will never get my vote or my money...directly or indirectly.

General election soon most likely, best case scenario at the moment a progressive alliance with a stymied Lib-Lab government.

Why on earth do you think the LD's would go into an alliance with a Leave party??

I sympathise with your view, however you need to accept the reality the Lib Dem’s are going to have to fall into line behind PM Jezza and their main partners in the SNP.

Corbyn will probably allow them a second independence referendum as the price of their cooperation.

So your principles are just going to deliver the !!!! show that is Jeremy and Nicola, with Jo probably left as Secretary of State for paper clips.

I'm not sure how you managed to be a Blairite for 30 years. He only got into power in the late 90s. What happened to get you so bent out of shape?

As far as the Lib Dems under Swinson go, she has voted for the Tory Whip more times than she's voted for her own. Especially around axing benefits for the poorest while cutting taxes for the richest.

If you just want Remain Tories then the LDs are a logical choice, and yes you probably were in the wrong party beforehand.

If you still care about any of the things you presumably did while in Labour (even as a Blairite) then a LD government won't deliver that.

Because the Lib Dems, especially under Jo Swinson, don't really have any political consistency.

They ditched the left wing promises they made campaigning (when Clegg was having his Corbyn moment) in order to form a coalition government with the Tories. Although to be fair they did block a lot of the Tories' more appalling ideas.

After losing every new supporter and most of their old ones they've been clever at rebranding as the only Remain party. They're good at finding niches and exploiting them but they don't have any noticeably political scruples. They'll ditch Remain as soon as they think pretending to be a Remain party isn't working for them.

Probably a requirement of going into politics.

Those who are signed up for BREXIT updates from the Home Office (isn’t everybody?) will have received this email today.
    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-readies-whole-nation-for-brexit-with-every-council-to-have-a-designated-brexit-lead?utm_source=5d5e93a9-90fe-4c8c-a00a-f16e4412877d&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_content=immediate

The British Government is ramping up the spending and preparation for the no deal Brexit in 89 days time.
Local councils are being ordered (can they be ordered?) to appoint a Brexit lead to coordinate the operations and spend the money.

    QUOTE
Councils should be fully prepared to leave the European Union by the end of October, the Communities and Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP said today (3 August 2019), as he ramped up preparations.

Mr Jenrick thanked councils for all the work they have already done, but said they must step up vital preparations and committed £20 million for councils across England to prepare for delivering Brexit on 31 October, whatever the circumstances.

He has asked each council to designate a Brexit lead to work with central government and oversee teams in every community who will work with stakeholders in their area to plan intensively for Brexit.

The new funding comes in recognition of the central role councils will play to make sure their residents are ready for Brexit, and is expected to support a range of activity including communications, training and the recruitment of staff.

Mr Jenrick will continue to talk to local council leaders to give them the opportunity to discuss preparations and the opportunities of Brexit ahead.

Communities and Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP said:

From Whitehall to town halls – everyone needs to be ready to fulfil our democratic mandate to leave the European Union by the end of October.

Local government has a vital role in helping to make Brexit a success and it is absolutely right that together we intensify preparations in every community.

And to do this successfully I have asked every council to appoint a Brexit lead to work with government. We’ll be providing £20 million for councils to support the major step up in preparations.

I want all of us – central and local government – to be fully prepared for leaving the EU on 31 October whatever the circumstances. I know that we can achieve this, by continuing to work side by side with renewed national focus and intensity.

The government recognises that certain areas face more acute pressures. It is currently considering how best to allocate funding to ensure that those areas where greater impacts are expected, such as high impact ports of entry, get the funding they need in order take appropriate steps.

At his first meeting with senior leaders from local authorities since becoming the Communities and Local Government Secretary earlier this week, Mr Jenrick told representatives that the government will support them to ensure they are ready to leave the EU in just under 90 days’ time.

Departments will continue to assess and, if appropriate, fund any potential new requirements of local authorities as part of Brexit work they are undertaking.

In January the government committed £58 million of funding to support local authorities in their preparations for Brexit.
    END QUOTE

Presently there is no mention of any personal plans British Citizens should be putting in place but this perhaps will come directly from local councils.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

    Because that's easy.

    * Ensure a stock of popcorn (coating of individual choice), suitable liquids for oral consumption and comfortable seating.

    * As soon as it is announced that we have actually left the EU sit down, turn your TV on and also sign in to MSE Forums then open the popcorn and get your drink ready.

    * Prepare to witness the meltdown of numerous remainers and pro-EU types on mainstream media and in forums as they realise that - despite their best attempts - the UK has actually left the EU.

    * Provide uproarious hoots of laughter as it slowly dawns on these remainers and pro-EU types that Britain is (as it always was) quite capable of standing on its' own, as the worlds 5th largest economy should.
(This bit can be used straight away and over the coming weeks/months/years ahead at each and every sign of positivity for Britain.)

Once your mouth has stopped frothing and your flags have stopped waving, then it might slowly dawn on you why we used to be the 5th largest economy.

I won't laugh, because you'll be crying with despair and it won't be any comfort to me.

In the meantime remoaners will continue fighting valiantly against this leave menace.

BTW as we import popcorn, you might want to stock pile some before sterling crashes completely.
