there are 16 million of us and three million eu citizens currently going through the process of gainig voting rights. We are going to have as much fun going on about the eu as the leavers have had all these years.
British politics is dead if we leave the eu0 -
Here's a quote from the briefing paper. 'Member States should themselves decide whether their citizens live in summer or winter time'.
What's to veto?
The fact that we would have to stick to one of them, so would have to choose between dark winter mornings or dark winter evenings. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

That is genuinely funny.
Shame they couldn't manage the same in the real referendum despite having millions of taxpayers' money and the state broadcaster behind them, eh? Eh? What larks. Here's a quote from the briefing paper. 'Member States should themselves decide whether their citizens live in summer or winter time'.

Not being able to decide to change the clocks halfway through the year to allow more sunlight in the winter. Most of the continent wants neither permanent summer time or permanent winter time, that's why they have daylight savings.
But clearly only racists want the right to use daylight savings.0 -

It's going to take a long time for the grown ups to take over and sort out a realistic way forward.it's pretty stupid to hate it just because it's foreigners telling us what to do
"In a trial known as the British Standard Time experiment, the UK kept Daylight Saving Time hours permanently from February 1968 to November 1971. Although the experiment resulted in fewer traffic incidents because darkness fell 1 hour later on the clock, it was found that there was a slight increase in incidents in the darker morning hours. The experiment was abandoned in 1972 because of its unpopularity—particularly in the north of the country, where days are generally shorter."

It wasn't liked when the UK Government tried it - why should it be any more popular just because the dear EU thinks its great for Germany.0 -

Obviously because it's not 1971 anymore, let's see if you can override your cognitive bias and see if you can come up with why I might think that is relevant.
It's been suggested again since.

It seems to have lost steam once the chance of Scottish independence came up, where they could decide to have their own say. Interestingly we didn't seem to care what the EU said, so maybe we would have a veto anyway.
What I don't get is if we have all this dunkirk spirit and stiff upper lip that will help us through a business busting brexit then why can't we cope with a change to how we set our clocks?
It's like we're in a quantum super position of snowflakes who can't possibly do anything and the most resilient human beings on the planet. Depending on how it fits leavers arguments best for being anti EU.Malthusian wrote: »But clearly only racists want the right to use daylight savings.
No, only racists construct their argument based on the opposite of what the EU wants to do. It's kinda amazing how there doesn't seem to be anything the EU does that is liked by leavers, plus all leave voters are experts in trade & the long term benefits of day light savings time.
Remainers on the other hand are capable of agreeing and disagreeing with things the EU do, by evaluating rather than instantly hating. I'm glad I'm a remain voter.0 -
This didn’t make me laugh quite as much, but it did serve to remind me what a miserable bunch of liars and hypocrites the brexit so-called leaders are:
