congratulations and well done:T:beer: i sent you a pmI just passed CeFA 3 today. Just the application exam to go, something I'm not sure how to feel about. It's certainly going to have its challenges, but the fact that I have all the background case studies in advance should help a lot!Though the vision may not be the true future of man but it can't be completely beyond his control.0 -
Well, the CeFA journey ended for me today. This morning I passed my CeFA 4 module, so I now have those nice extra letters after my name and can start seriously thinking about moving into a trainee advisor position!

Well done!
Now get yourself enrolled for the October sitting of the Diploma exams!!!0 -
I think I'll go with CeMAP first, as that's something that is required sooner in my work role. However, I'm thinking I might grab the materials for one of the Diploma exams before too long and will start work on it sooner rather than later.Well done!

If I were you I'd look at doing a Diploma unit first.
To adivse on mortgages you only have to have Unit 1, UK Regulation, and being multiple choice you can do it at anytime throughout the year. It took me 4 weeks to pass Unit 2 and 3 of CeMAP including study time and couple have been done a lot quicker if I could have got Unit 3 booked sooner, so it just show how quicky it can be done.
Whereas the Diploma sitting are once every 6 months, so if you give it a miss this time then you'll have to wait until next April to do one.
If I were you (and this is what I did), I would take one Diploma unit in October which will give you around 2 months to prepare for it, then CeMAP 2 & 3 in November/December and then another Diploma unit next April. That would mean that you miss no Diploma sittings and having 2 under your belt by the middle of next year, and still fitting CeMAP in in the meantime.
If you want to move in an FA role and they want you to advise on mortgages too they will still take you on as you have full CeFA and you will be able to adivise on them based on Unit 1. You will also be in a much better position this time next year if you have managed to do a couple of Diploma units too with the possibility of the RDR coming in and made best use of your time.0 -
I might well consider that. However, do I have enough study time for a diploma module given my full-time job and a 2-week holiday in September (doubt I will be taking much study material with me on that!)? I don't particularly want to sign up to a module just to fail it, and I have no idea how much more difficult the diploma modules are than CeFA, so I don't know how much time I'd need to spend studying.
Maybe I should start a diploma thread to further chart my journey

They are a fair step up but I think that the 6 weeks you would have taking in to account your two week holiday is more than enough if you put in the time.
I did two exams at a time and gave myself about 6-7 weeks revision time for both units before each sitting, and was working full time also. If you get the material now you should be able to get through it before your holiday, and then spend the time when you get back re-capping and going through all the past papers.0
