Just Passed CeFA 2 today. I was much better prepared for this one, and got 87% total, so Merit Passes in both units. Just CeFA 3 and the synoptic exam to go now!

    Well done. _party_

Ah ok no I wasn't sure because I googled and got loads of different results.

Theres 14-19 yo courses, and so I was going to take advantage of these, maybe in summer? But looking at the them they don't really look very valuable (first 2 are about personal finance, which I think from this site, proves I can handle my own finances!) apart from Certificate in Financial Studies which I think I might be able to manage over the summer, but it is £135, and basically finance is a hobby of mine rather than a career path.

Oh what should I do oh wise one.

I wouldn't bother if you're only learning for a hobby. You'd be better off just spending time on places like this to learn about financial services as a hobby. If you actually buy the books, you'll realise there's a lot of tedious stuff in there that you really don't give a damn about.

I'm taking these because it's part of my long-term career plan to be a financial adviser, and this is one of the two minimum qualifications you need to be regulated by the FSA.

Ah right fair enough. No I think if I had come to this site a few years ago I may have changed my career path, Comptuing is the one I am on at the moment (programming) but from this site it has shown me that I am quite interested in finance and investment, which is a pain as I have just started my degree in Software Engineering.

I am hoping my hobby into finance will help me to become well off in the future.

And well if you do become an IFA thats one more I can go and see when I have lots of money :)

I'm still a good few years away from being an IFA! Give me 2 or 3 years and my bank might even have me talking about some regulated products!

I'm taking it quite slowly really, but it's a great opportunity to learn to deal with clients in a financial environment before I also have to learn how to deal with regulated stuff.

The main examination body is the CII. There are others but the CII is the most popular.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Where do you sit the exams for the CeFA? Is it done at local centres nationwide?
