Oh that sounds excellent! Sounds like the shop my grandfather was brought up in for a while, run by his aunt, in a poor part of Manchester - they sold "twists" of tea, sugar and whatnot - a certain size of paper bag, the loose product was poured in and the paper at the top twisted to keep it closed. One old half-penny (this was over 100 years ago!).
My dad also worked in an old fashioned grocers shop where all the dry goods were loose and weighed out in a thick brown paper bag. Cheese was cut to desired size with a cheese wire and ham etc was sliced to required thickness with a slicing machine. My dad was excellent at packing for holidays and wrapping Christmas presents after all the packaging and sealing people's orders at work0 -
Some shredding managed last night but need to do more today and put the recycling boxes out later.
I also cooked mac cheese and sausages for the family so that will be collected later as we are going out for lunch. If we are outside it will be somewhere shady as happily neither of us 'do' sitting in the sun and frying.
H@lifax CC paid this morning - just the minimum but once all my work invoices are settled for this month, I'll divvy up money to different CC and debts and may be able to pay more. Money in my account this morning from one bit of self employment so balance creeping up .
A few surveys done last night and today, Prolific up to £7 and 1poll on £5. Best get on and get organised.....0 -

Got the train home after work as it was still hot this afternoon, its been raining for a couple of hours this evening and feels much cooler now :j
I see Prolific has moved to a new website address and happily I can once again access the site on my phone which I haven't been able to do for a few weeks.
Nothing financial going on except I've had a reminder about the home emergency insurance being due later in the month. I'm not going to renew even though it hasn't gone up as I had real hassle with them last year and had to write to the CEO before I got a sensible response from customer service there. Its also reminded me the general house and contents policy will be due soon and I paid that annually last year so will need to shop around. Also if I cancel the insurance DD [after I've rung them] I'd need to put another one in place on that account to still be eligible for the 'Reward'. So bit of admin faffing to be done - yawn.
Early night tonight I think to take advantage of it being cooler and hopefully getting a better sleep...0 -

We also cancelled our home emergency insurance last year after lots of hassle and expense when we did call them out to attend to the boiler. We now put money aside in an emergency fund and use a local company to sort any issues. It had been much better.
Quite a lot cooler here today and we had rain overnight.0 -

Hi BusyMee, much cooler here too. I haven't even claimed - they just kept taking the annual amount rather than monthly and put me into overdraft twice :eek:Every time I rang I got wrong advice, they ignored my written complaint so I wrote to the CEO which finally got it sorted. Doesn't give me much faith in the event that I ever did have to claim so am ditching them :mad:0 -
