Concert was great, brilliant atmosphere . We were quite high up in the seating but I managed the stairs ok. It stayed dry too which was a bonus. Bit chilly once the sun went down but I had plenty of layers on.

Woke up about 5am with cramp in one leg so hopped round the bedroom while still half asleep and it eased off eventually. Got back to sleep ok and had a long lie this morning. Not done a lot today other than read my book, did some washing and watched a bit of TV I'd recorded.

I've made a list for jobs to do in the week. Its got very windy and chilly here now and raining off and on. Its a shame about the wind as the flowers are looking a bit battered now :(

Am going to have a look at my S@insbo online order to see if it needs editing before the deadline later.

Phew, its been mega hot but windy here - strange weather indeed. The wind has died down now and its just very warm.

I did a few Prolific surveys today and cashed out another £12+ which was in P@yp@l immediately. So, I used that and the £20+ I got last week to buy 3 shares in a community shop locally. We already have a bakers owned by the community and this is a fruit and veg and more shop. Lots of local produce and dry goods where you can take in your own containers, refillable toiletries, veg boxes etc.

Went out this affy and paid in some money to my business account. Also bought some bargain cheese which was on offer and I also had a 50p coupon so got a big second block of cheese for 30p effectively :money:

Bought some more broad beans and mini courgettes as going to do some roasted veg tomorrow before I go to work. Was flagging a bit in the heat so went into a cafe and had a cold drink before home. Salad for tea then S@insbo shopping arrived and was put away. I've taken some Dhal out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Watered the garden as everything was really dry tonight. Heading off to bed soon but I think it will be too hot to sleep even under a sheet :(

What a wonderful community shop! And the shares idea sounds fabulous. Hope you managed to get some sleep - I was dreading it a bit, but I woke up an hour or so *after* my usual time, which was a godsend.

Thanks both, yes it is a big asset to the town. The current owners are moving on and its been up for sale with no interest so we were going to lose it. The community buyout will be a good thing I think as it might lead to grants etc for new refrigeration etc. They already donate a lot to places like the FB and community projects that help feed people in various ways and the community soup fridge etc. We only have an @sda here and couple of Coops so its good to have another option especially as for example, if you only want to buy half a bunch of herbs thats what they'll sell you. Also if you grow produce or have an allotment and have a glut of something, they'll buy it and sell it in the shop :)

Was completely puggled last night when I got home about 7pm after nearly 2 hours on the bus. I was planning to get a train but I saw the bus was just arriving and I'd have to wait 40 minutes for a train but next time I'll just wait. Despite having curtains closed on the sunny side of the house it was still like an oven when I got in. Found a fan in the cupboard so that helped a bit though big, old furry boy does not trust it ;).

Thunder storms overnight, had all the upstairs windows open and woke up when my bedroom door which was propped open with a shoe, slammed shut in the storm. Note to self, wedge door open with something more substantial.

Not quite so 'fry an egg on the pavement' hot today, am not working so ventured out to look for a b'day pressie for one of my gnieces who will soon be 1  Managed to get something and a card so pleased thats organised. Also bought some sausages from the butcher and some milk to make food tonight for the family.

No financial news really, a couple of CC statements have appeared for next month. I should get paid tomorrow for one area of my self employed work and after tomorrow can do an invoice for this month to cover another bit of work as no more scheduled for them before the end of the month.

Going to sort out some paperwork to be recycled and or shredded now as its recycling box day on Friday....

Oh that sounds excellent! Sounds like the shop my grandfather was brought up in for a while, run by his aunt, in a poor part of Manchester - they sold "twists" of tea, sugar and whatnot - a certain size of paper bag, the loose product was poured in and the paper at the top twisted to keep it closed. One old half-penny (this was over 100 years ago!).
