  • But then ask if there is anything missing, don’t doubt the accuracy.

Too many people on these boards quick to make their own judgements and accuse people lying/bending the truth/keeping vital info out for example.

Because 90% of the time it appears to be the case

Nobody accuses posters of that until or unless the poster's story implies it. A poster's story often has to be questioned in order to get at the appropriate detail in order to offer help, and its during this questioning that the inconsistencies often start to appear.

Given your proven inability to understand the English language (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5948605/nationwide-upgrade), I don't think you're best placed to understand any poster's story, let alone comment on the likely veracity of it.

Don't tell me what to do, it's very rude...

  • Dexter how dare you call the OP a liar.

Aside from the fact that doubting accuracy is not the same as calling someone a liar, it really isn't your place, redditrabbit, to take offence on behalf of OP, who is probably perfectly capable of doing so themselves.

So far, they haven't (early days, I know). In fact they haven't even been back to see any of the responses, which might suggest the whole thing is a fantasy. I doubt that the retailer would have got authorisation to get the transactions through (although it's possible to just not bother with authorisation) and I doubt that Halifax is that efficient to have got their charges on to OPs account so quickly (although, again, it is possible).

But the real hole in the post is actually getting to speak with the manager - like who is going to believe that ever happened? No doubt I'll be bombarded with indignation now from all those who have achieved such a feat!:)

More likely OP has been back and was scared off by the lunatics :rotfl:

As it was nearing Christmas time, I had the misfortune of falling to being a victim of fraud, several foreign transactions from Moldova were made on my Halifax bank account. The amount spent put my account into an unauthorised overdraft. I had no issues with getting a replacement debit card and a full refund of all the fraudulent transactions.

However, I've I'd as I would expect been charged for going into an unauthorised overdraft. No worries I thought, surely if it's as a result of fraud that wasn't my fault, Halifax will refund those fees, right? WRONG!!!!

When I went into branch to ask for it to be sorted out, I ended up speaking with the manager about it and he said he could but won't as it's my responsibility to keep track of my budgeting and spending and it's obvious I need help with this. I told him I manage my finances just fine and why should I suffer because I was a victim of fraud that can happen to just about anyone with a bank account, even if very vigilant like I am.

The manager then had the nerve to start talking to me like I'm slow or a child and said "It's obvious you're a bit dippy aren't you?"

Where do I go from here as if I make an offical complaint, it'll be his word against mine! :(

I'm afraid I got through the first sentence and spent the rest of the post wondering why being near Christmas made it inevitable one would be the victim of fraud. Sort of detuned after that.
