Im failing to see where you are losing part of your holiday?

Unless you are counting the time you have spent on hereYou have been given ibruofen and paracetamol , general over the counter medicines which you don't even need a pharmacist to buy, which with all medications that you can buy come with a warning not to drink to excess whilst taking them

You admit you aren't a drinker

You have given yourself a bang on the arm. You have been seen by a doctor, you have been given a pain killer and an anti inflammatory, its obviously going to be slightly tender, but to the extent that you have lost 3 days of a holiday ?

I have currently had around 36 hours of pain, time wasted discussing the matter with the hotel manager , seeing a doctor , spending further holiday time with the holiday company rep and generally been annoyed about it....not a nice holiday so far...unfair at the very least, not what I would of hoped for when booking the holiday...accidents do happen of course, but the manager does not seem to be very caring or open to showing me a copy of the incident report book / records or a record to show the door has since been tested by an engineer to show the door is working correctly, If that happened in the UK then I would of called the local health and saftey and lodged an official complaint.

Compo compo compo, the usual make a complaint and rinse them for everything they have. You wonder why insurance in this country is so high and all the doctors here are so defensive

  • Thank you for your reply, oddly enough are insurance as recommended by the money saving expert website, was a mere £16.89 for me and my wife, that was because topcashback of 10 percent... I'd say the insurance is pretty cheap theses days, my car insurance is also very cheap too.... I guess I'm not classed as a high risk.

Your the one who is ruining your own holiday by wasting time speaking to people and requesting information that they don't have to provide for you.

If it was me i would have simply told a member of staff what happened and left it at that, no need to get annoyed. The fact that a doctor only told you to take paracetamol shows any injury is very minimal.

This obviously hasn't happened to anyone since and i'm sure those doors are used quite a lot during meal times so using common sense there is no need for the hotel to waste time and money getting them professionally checked.

The fact that you want information, taking pictures and getting the agent to email you copies of reports shows your obviously looking to get some money out of this minor incident. It's people like you who give British people a bad reputation when abroad.

It must take less than a second or so to pass through this type of door so you must have seen them coming towards you as they were closing. Im confused as too how you would stand still as they closed on you unless you either tried to dash through after they started to close or they 'snapped' shut at high speed which is unlikely.

If the doors were faulty, what happened after you finished your meal in the outside area and had to walk back through them? Did you see others going through them and having a problem?
  • Is it wrong to suggest after an incident to want to be assured the door has been looked at by an engineer? I think that is common sense and part of some kind of duty of care.

  • I declined a doctor and the member of staff said they would bring it to the managers attention, we continued with our day with a sore arm and I thought hey I will be fine tomorrow.......when we returned to the room there was a letter of apology and a bottle of wine, my wife does not drink and I don't drink wine....but still a nice gesture....

doctor was paid for by the hotel, nice doctor , he examined me and prescribed me a ibuofen cream for my arm and parcetomal to be taken 3 times a day, I purchased these from the chemist and kept the prescription from the doctor and the doctors report and a copy of payment for the medication

What else do you want them to do? Imo the compo klaxon is going off in my head. These things happen, yes it's not nice that you can't drink much, but it's not broken, the hotel gave you a bottle of wine and apologised, and paid for the doctor. Imo they went out of their way for you. I'm sorry I'm not so sympathetic but it's not the end of the world that you can't have a few drinks. You don't need to take this further. The hotel seem nothing but polite.

    Brits abroad eh.
  • Well, I walked towards the doors and at the point of passing through the doors the doors shut on my arms, split second then released.

Oddly enough this morning I have looked more closely at the doors in question there is no rubber seals on the sliding doors edges which would make contact with each other when closed , just metal with the track where the rubber should be, I checked the brand of the doors and the same doors are fitted at multiple points around the hotel all of which have the rubber fitted.

I am concerned this will happen again to another guest...

Draw your concern to the attention of the hotel management and the tour company, and tell other guests as well

Hopefully this will help stop this happening to anyone else, but maybe you should see if everyone can either be emergency evacuated home or switched to other safer accomodation

. . . of course you are, that's why you want reports, video evidence etc etc etc.
