If you have a biometric passport, just do your licence on-line, you don't need to send anything by post. When you receive your new photo-card and have checked your categories you are supposed to send the old done back!

I doubt if they can make production with intent to deceive stick, but it could be a huge can of worms.

How true. I passed my tests before relentless cynicism was ground into me so I don't have any proof except the licence. Nowadays I would have multiple notorised copies of all the pass certificates and applications in my safekeeping.

They wouldn’t need to make it stick, just give them a reason to arrest and seize the car and licence. You’ll get your car back when you get a licence they can verify with dvla.

Thanks. I checked online and it does have my driving licence recorded correctly, despite being issued in 1975. I will get the form for change of address, photos and other ID ready so I am well-prepared.
    Greatful for everyone's help.

Move apart, if your address hasn't changed in the last 44 years, I'm going to guess that you can't be too far off having to renew your licence at 70 - which means photocard, anyway.
