Notifying new address to DVLC Paper driving licence
I can't seem to find the answer to this online. My driving licence is a paper one from when I passed my test in 1970s. We should be moving house soon, so I know I will need to get the address changed on it (and my log book too.) I will obviously have to get a photo driving licence then, but how long do I have to apply for it? I'm imagining we will be very busy for at least the first month or so after we move (we're moving 400 miles from our present house after over 20 yrs here). How much time are we legally permitted between actual moving day and getting a new licence? Your help is appreciated.

There is no period of grace.
However, in practice there should be no problem provided you have Royal Mail redirecton in place.
I understand your concern about being busy, but there's nothing to stop you applying a few days before the move.0 -

But he won't have a photocard until he's in the new address.0 -
Once contracts have exchanged, then anybody causing it to be delayed or fall through is going to be in problems so deep and expensive that changing the address on a driving licence back is the least of their problems...AndyMc..... wrote: »What if the sale falls through or is delayed?
That apart, it's not hard to get everything ready to go beforehand, then jot the date on and shove it in the post within a day or two of moving. It's the least of the things on the "Must do when moving" list.0 -
Thanks. I will get the forms etc ready beforehand and send them off the day after we move, which
should be fast enough to avoid a fine.0 -
