And take copies of both sides in high definition before you send it.......it’s not unknown for the DVLA to not transfer all the categories you can drive onto your new licence! :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0

Or simply check online as to what categories DVLA think you have, first. And take copies of both sides in high definition before you send it.......it’s not unknown for the DVLA to not transfer all the categories you can drive onto your new licence!

The loss of entitlements came around with the shifting between computer systems. I think they've all been long since shifted now, and it's just that it comes to light for people going from ancient paper licences to their first photocards.0 -
You only have to be contactable at the address, so if the new owner is going to forward any mail, or you have a redirect set up there wouldn't be a problem anyway.
The DVLA are known to "forget" entitlements from the green licences when they issue a photocard, make sure you keep a notorised copy if you are sending the green one back and you have more than just A & E.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

You will likely find that like me, you don't exist.
Last time I tried phoning the DVLA about this, all I got was a pre recorded message saying that all paper records would be transferred to computer by such and such a date, even though I was phoning 6 months after that date.
No doubt I will be in trouble at a roadside stop which is why I keep my green licence handy.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'd look into that before you're stopped, if there is no record of you the there's no way of verifying the paper licence is genuine.0 -
And what about new build houses, where DVLA still haven't got the address listed even though it was built last year?!0

I tried (and got fobbed off). And tried (and got fobbed off again). The only solution I can see is for me to send them my genuine paper licence so they can deny ever having received it.
They are supposed to have microfiche records of every licence issued since 1978 too, so given the issue date and the number they should be able to find it.....
Most likely, that particular fiche has been damaged or it fell off someones desk when they were transcribing them onto computer, and a batch of licences have been "lost"
At the moment, I have a genuine paper licence. If I send it to them I won't even have that.
I suppose I can raise yet another query with them.....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

But the problem is if you are stopped, possibly arrested/dealt with for production with intent to deceive you're in serious trouble as you cannot prove you've every applied for a licence and taken a test.0 -

I doubt if they can make production with intent to deceive stick, but it could be a huge can of worms.as you cannot prove you've every applied for a licence and taken a test.
How true. I passed my tests before relentless cynicism was ground into me so I don't have any proof except the licence. Nowadays I would have multiple notorised copies of all the pass certificates and applications in my safekeeping.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
