Don’t forget to still tip on top of all the fees.

Vegas has changed so much in the 20 years I have been going, none for the better
  • If the hotels are going to add on venue fees to go with the ever increasing resort fees, and parking fees, surely the only option for visitors is to cut back on the only “ non mandatory” extra that we pay....the tipping ?

I have never had a problem leaving the “expected” tip for whatever service I have received in Vegas usually 15-20%...although nowadays I think they expect 18-25% :rotfl:
I know it may not be fair on those who rely on me tipping the expected amount....but with new charges and an exchange rate which will be the worst I have ever got this coming trip, if my tip is the only flexible “extras”
I have any say over, then it may just be that I will think twice before stumping up my normal tip.

Although I would probably feel bad...and still leave the full tip ;)

I read on facebook that some wait staff in the top restaurants get $40 to $50 an hour in tips.. thats not a bad wage, so dont feel bad, of course in lower end places it will be less
  • Well, we've just had emails to say our BA flight home is cancelled (Friday afternoon). So they've rebooked us from LA that evening to Heathrow then on to Edinburgh, which is not our original airport. I've just had to accept that, as presumably it's the 'best' option.

Is there any way we're likely to be able to claim for onward travel (Edinburgh to Glasgow), and for a late checkout in our hotel (as we've now got quite a late flight).

Stoneman most likely has his finger on the pulse a bit more than me with cancellations, but aren’t you entitled to your EC261 compensation for less than 14 days cancellation (depending on reason, but guessing it can’t be due to strikes or weather!). What exactly were your original / new flights?

Failing that, just get them to move you to the Saturday flight and to pay for your extra nights accommodation ;)

Maybe also have a gander at FlyerTalk BA board if not much advice is forthcoming - I don’t think you just have to accept their alternative. With such short notice - less than 14 days - they still have a duty of care no matter how much they say it’s the best option!

Not sure on the piostion with EU261, BA may say it is out of their control but as suggested try flyertalk.

Now we are in a position where our flights this coming Dec were cancelled on the return leg. I checked on other options with BA or AA and called BA. In the end we agreed to return home a day later, BA offered £50 compo. We book our own accomodation in Vegas so wouldnt offer any help finance an additional night. If you are on a package they may help you. As far as getting from Edi to Gla you are going to incur out of pocket expenses, they should pay that for you or you may have to claim it back from them afterwards. Good luck.

    Typical...

Just started to play the Wynn Casino app last week, and I was just starting to get the hang of it..up to 500 gems in the week, with a stash of 300 million coins to play.
Now they have moved the goalposts.
App upgrade has new VIP points and levels to get to before purchasing anything.
You have to collect thousands of points to get up a level in a certain time frame, and if you don’t they re-set.
Looks like they have made it even harder to get anything, plus i had a go to see how quickly you can accumulate the vip points, and i lost 50 million chips to get 29 points.
I’d swear the wins have tightened up also.

I’ve already been in touch with vegasvisitor about this. Her flights were canceled within 14 days, in fact it was only a couple of days out. They are rebooked on a flight much later in the day to a different airport. They are entitled to €600 euros each, care until their new flight time, so a meal and non alcoholic drinks, and taxi from the airport they are flying to to either their original airport or home.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

It has been agreed that strikes that involve the employees of the airline involved are within their control so EU261 duty of care and compensation applies.

  • Thanks Stoneman, that's good news for those affected.
