Am more of a bash person myself but funnies aside it’s a really useful feature. It almost certainly saves money is hugely convenient and is better for your clothes. Win win.0 -
This 12kg beast might reduce the number of loads needed.

_pale_ Rewind ten years please.
What on earth is a washing machine doing for two and a half hours? Doesn't waiting that long annoy you?
What is a green screen? And with cheap washing machines lasting only a couple of years, are you plumbing in the new and disposing of the old yourself?
My washer-drier is the cheapest Candy the developer could find fifteen years ago. Whichever appliance dies/ floods/ causes a fire first gets replaced, lottery if it is the fridge, freezer or washing machine! :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

The A+++ wash that takes 2½ hours is just a sales ploy, hardly anyone actually uses it. But if they did it wouldn't matter, you're allowed to do other things while the washing machine is on.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
I would second the suggestion of a Samsung Ecobubble made above.
Comes with a free 5 year cover if you register. I have a model 5 years old similar to the Samsung WW80J5555FW/EU which John Lewis have for £399. JL normally charge an extra £80 to £100 to extend cover to 5yrs. Use it about 3 times a week normally on the 1hr 8 min cycle with no problems so far.0 -
Can't OP get a repair/replacement done under sale of good act as it's only 3-4 years old and one would expect washing machine to last around 6 years?0

Just replaced my Hotpoint w/m which I purchased in July 2008 for £270.So lasted over 10 years. Basically got latest version of same model for £299 from Currys.
Manufacturers warranty= 1 year full warranty for manufacturing defects then 9 years free parts and £120 call out + labour. Hotpoint offered extended warranty on everything including accidental damage for £3.99 month. Currys offered same deal for £4.99 month but beware. If you go for POS extended warranty, you do not find out what Manufacturers warranty is until you get it delivered and see the paperwork which accompanies it. It may be cheaper.0 -
Mr_Singleton wrote: »Yes, £300/year which compared to a Beko at the same price with the crappy feature set and what, yearly/Biennial replacement schedule makes the Miele good value in my view.
Apologies, I stand corrected it is in fact an A rated wash in under an hour rather than A+++
Seems odd that only Miele seem to talk about wash performance others seem to hide it away or not publish at all.
But that's the thing, it's luck of the draw on replacement. For example:
Our Beko is three years old, and cost £260.
It's A+++ (we use the eco washes most of the time, as we aren't standing there waiting for it to finish).
It has a wide range of programs, all of which can be customised.
You can get clean clothes in 12, 30, or 60 minutes if you're in a rush.
So currently £86 a year, and decreasing; no idea how long it will last.0 -

Oh I see, I was guesstimating half of an 'average' family's wash loads being on a long programme.
Other things limited by the safety advice not to leave the washing machine / tumble dryer (if owned) unattended to reduce chance of flooding or burning in your beds. And only shower or wash your hair whilst a load is on if you find sudden bursts of very hot or very cold water 'invigorating'....
I don't actually know what an 'average' family's schedule is like, only that it is very busy with a lot of activities and a lot of laundry. :eek:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Each load take 10min load unload time.
The in-between time is free you do other stuff.
With delay start you can have loads ready for when you get up.
If I have a full day at home even popping out for a shop and the pub I can get 4 wash and dry done without even noticing the time spent attending to the machines.0
