Since you like HP and want a bigger screen, this looks okay (I only had a quick look):-

    google.com/intl/en_uk/chromebook/device/hp-chromebook-14-g5

The only thing that may be tricky is playing Windows games, but there's Android games/apps available now , as well as LINUX and I think you can run Wndows games using WIne, but that would require a bit of investigation if you're considering it.

I'd buy a second user business class device any day, over that piece of plastic crap. Cheap and crappy components. 32 GB eMMc for £229??!!

The lunatics are taking over the asylum.

Browserwise, I can utilise Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Epic....
Clearly not a showstopper for everyone. I don't remember the last time I used a browser other than Chrome on my Windows laptop.

Some people value new vs refurbished more than other people do. Plus, plastic doesn't make a laptop slower.

Cost £300 in 2007. Three Windows installs. First XP, then Windows 7 and now Windows 10 Pro.
Just out of curiosity, what model is it?

Haven't purchased any versions of Windows. AMD Turion 64 x 2 TL60, 4 GB of RAM, 120 GB SSD.

The clear point is that the Windows laptop is still in use at eleven years old+ and still more versatile than your doubly dumbed down device. Which games will the Chromebook play?

Browserwise, I can utilise Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Epic....

It's not more versatile, would struggle to even run a lot of modern windows applications and games and has no doubt taken a lot of maintenance and effort to keep it running over the years.

How many Chrome tabs can it open at once? 2? lol

Heres' all the games you can play on a Chromebook (Pretty amazing huh?):-

    Here's the browsers available:-

Windows sucks and is a thing of the past. Get over it and move on.

I have 0 doubt that a chromebook would destroy your old windows laptop. I don't even know why you're bothering replying.

What would your recommendation for a decent windows machine be then? Offer something constructive instead of getting all defensive over an ancient laptop?

PS I see you choose not to respond to how much time or money you've spent on ad/spy/bloat/ransom ware. Or on waiting for Windows updates! lol.

You must be able to appreciate that any 2nd hand device v new is just stupid and an unfair comparison. I could probably pick up a 2nd hand pixelbook cheapish, that would destroy anything running windows, but that's not what was asked for.

Please suggest a laptop for the OP instead of pointlessly ranting about your ancient 2nd hand laptop?

PS Since WIndow's and PC's are currently dieing a slow death, there's 1000's of apps that a Chromebook can run that a Windows machine simply can't.

A lot of companies plainly just don't bother even releasing Windows software anymore. Think Ring, Nest, Hue etc.

Embrace the change, because it's happening, whether you like it or not.

OMG that's a rubbish consumer grade plastic laptop. We have to have a battered old refurbished business laptop!
