the forum missed a bracket (and has in my post), although these arguments don't help the OP.
Thankfully motorguy has posted two possibles;)
motorguy has posted one possibility. Good spec but it's a Grade C device.
The condition of this one might be better; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Thinkpad-T450-Core-i5-5300U-2-30GHz-16GB-Ram-240GB-SSD-Windows-10-Laptop/232949763168
As to the SATA 1 argument, it is important. As the erroneous statements could put someone off fitting an SSD.
arciere is completely off the mark on this one.0 -

I posted TWO possibilities.
Yes, that one you posted is a Grade 2 for £25 more. They tend to be on a sliding scale of price v condition. You pays your money....
It was more of a "have a look at a T450 and heres an example" rather than a "you must buy this one, its the only and bestest one available and i will argue about it vehemently with complete strangers on the internet if everyone doesnt agree" type statement0 -

One possibility. The other has a 12.5" screen. OP asked for 14".
If a small screen was requested, I would have suggested this one; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Latitude-E7240-Ultrabook-i5-CPU-4GB-RAM-128GB-SSD-12-Touchscreen-/232902237137
I don't know anything about the rest of your childish post. I actually thought yours was a good suggestion and I stated so. Which is why I re-posted your suggestion, but one in better condition within budget.
It's only you who has the mindset of having a peeing contest.0 -
Yes, I know better than to argue with you, so I'll just leave it there. Your ability to turn any post you don't agree with into a personal battle is remarkable.0

So you're fighting a "personal battle against misinformation" on the internet, and people "should know better than to argue with you".... oh dear.
Reminds me a lot of this cartoon.0 -
Dont know where you're getting your laptops repaired - presumably by the brother of the person you used to service your cars - but i've a decent bloke in the next town over from me who does the stuff i dont want to. I've had laptop repairs / upgrades done by them for £40 for 2 hours plus work. Hes happy for me to supply the parts - stuff i wouldnt want to tackle myself.
I've never paid anyone a penny to service my cars. Likewise I have never paid anyone a penny for computer repairs. It's interesting that the OP has said "my laptop is on the way out". Why has nobody told him how to get it repaired? Surely that should be done instead of suggesting new (or old) replacements.0 -

There is much more than just maximum sequential read and write speeds.

Otherwise, according to your statement, my ACER Aspire ZG5 would perform much the same with an HDD. It does not, not even close, by any measure.
At a guess, in a real world setting, I would say that an SSD fitted to a SATA 1 connection would be around three times faster than an HDD.
2006 Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop, it can only run 2GB RAM due to one broken slot.

It's the seek times that are so much different. There is no way an arm can get across a disk and it spin into position as fast as an SSD.0
