I didn’t lock myself in.
Likely the downstairs neighbour has but the landlord has blocked off the lock on the inside so it’s definitely the landlords fault that I can’t get out.
I leave my home at 6:45am in the morning so I was legally parked and it’s the landlord’s fault that I cannot get out and go to work.
I live in an area which is terrible for parking it’s not like I’ve parked where I have out of laziness there is simply no where else to park.0 -
My parents live over an hour away as does my boyfriend all friends work.0

This is scary. How many flats in the country are like this. How many people die each year because they cannot get out of flats during a fire, either because of not being able to unlock their door in an emergency or because the windows have been locked.
How many people lock their front or back door on the inside in any property and then put the key somewhere it cannot be found in a smoke filled room and die as a result of a fire for that matter?0 -
When does the postman come round ?
You aren't going to be able to claim against your LL but you should get the blocking on the inside removed. Why do you think that was done? Is it easily removed ?0 -

Really?! Who knows and I would expect that the properties would be checked to ensure they can be evacuated by smashing a window.0 -
The inside of the lock has been blocked I vaguely remember something being said about not double locking the door when I moved in.
Sounds like someone has done this, quite possibly your neighbour. I doubt the landlord would consider himself liable if all tenants were warned about this.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The block on the lock looks like glue. It’s always been there but my neighbour has never locked the door from the outside.
I’m not going to pass my keys out of a window to a complete Stranger to open the door.
The postmen comes around 1pm hopefully the landlord will actually answer when I call again surely 10am is now not too early.
Hopefully the landlord will be reasonable able paying the fine considering that blocking off the lock is probably a breach of something.0
