I have been working part time doing a commission only sales for about 2 months now . I work as and when i can, i don't have a target and i have plenty of customers to sell to, Its not mega money but it all helps and it can be quite fun. There are loads of these jobs about i looked on agentsbase.co.uk or .com DONT pay for the magazine you can view all the jobs online for free.
  • I run a business helping people clear their clutter and I've seen a massive increase in demand for our 1-2-1 home consultation, workshop services and an increase in eBook sales as more poeple try to clear their clutter so they can turn some of it into cash. more significantly our garage sale, car boot sale and on-line auction site assistance service has increased massively and we even help organise street sales. Estate agents have even realised that clutter is a bigger turn off for would be buyers and are asking for help.

We've helped lots of people make money out of unwanted clutter and help people realise the value of their clutter such as the lady who found a 1st edition book worth £6,500 - we even have a pickled monkey that, although somewhat bizzare and unwanted by the now deceased owner (we can't burn it or bury it) it would appear there are lots of weird people out there who would like Pedro, the Pickled Monkey of 40 years.

So clear out your clutter and you really can make quite a bit of cash in lots of different ways - online auction sites, garage sales, street sales - even putting a note in your front window if you live on a busy street or in the back of your car for when it's parked at work (make sure you put prices on it as people don't enquire if there are no prices).

and remember - if you think it's junk then it's probably perfect for a car boot sale!

I'd recommend having a good old car boot sale! Whilst it's never that nice getting up so early on a sunday, we did one a while back just to clear all the clutter from the loft (it's amazing some of the things we found up there!) and we actually made some half decent money from it all.

I absolutely agree about clearing out the clutter - but make sure you do your research on what you have before deciding where to sell it. I just shifted hundreds of unwanted books and dvds as I needed the space. A day spent on amazon marketplace and ebay checking the value of items made a massive difference. Turned out that a number of books I considered crummy or ten-a-penny were worth a few bob (£40 in one case for a book I had bought in a charity shop for £3!). Books that are borderline profitable I have hung onto as prices do seem to fluctuate a lot!

Charity shop trawling for books and other items to resell online can be quite profitable if you know your market and have time to commit. Some of the bigger charity shop chains (Oxfam in particular) are really sharp at spotting quality books so aren't much good for this, but many smaller and less organised charities tend to just flog everything for 50p-£1 without checking.
For everything else, there's MSE :T

    Hi everyone!

I'm an experienced computer programmer, in things like C, VBScript and VBA (in MS Office), as well as being experienced at using MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access, and coding web pages by hand.

I'd like to turn some, or all, of these skills to earning myself some extra cash. I'm a member of a site that allows me to bid for projects (I won't mention the name, but it can be found with a Google search).

It's US-based, and the Ts & Cs are based in US law (they mostly make sense anyway), but I'd be happier doing stuff for people based in the UK anyway.

Any pointers and/or advice that you can pass on to me?

(We need a "nerd" smilie in here...)

There was a woman on the Wright Stuff who said it was possible to earn cash by waiting for deliveries or tradespeople in the houses of people at work. Has anyone done this? I think it's a good idea but the questions of advertising - where, and how much to charge etc is a bit daunting.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I have googled this and cannot find a thing on it. I would love to know going rates so I don't charge too much... Anyone have any ideas?
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

    I found this one:

    http://www.errandboyrunners.com/faqs.html

charges £18 per hour for a waiting service, but doesn't say what region. I personally think that's a bit steep.

It sounds like I could do with someone like you to come and wave a magic wand and get rid of all my clutter!

My biggest problem is where and how to shift it. I used to sell infrequently on Ebay but have been put off with the latest 'mandatory paypal' fiasco. I don't own a car so car boots/auctions are out.
I have given some to charity but still need to shift the rest. Also, I need some way of pricing everything (I generally check against Ebay for some clues - but I'm not sure that this is a reliable way?)

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
